Wiring problem

On sprig break i swapped my lude. I swapped a motor from a donor car that i had got a few months back. When we proceeded with the swap, we didn't konw that all you had to do was wire vtec straight to the ecu, but ended up swapping the entire main wiring harness. When we had completed the wire swap i found one plug that i can't seem to find the other plug that plugs in with it. My speedometer does not work which in consequence i believe that the car does not engage in Vtec according to an article that i red on hondatech. "The Official "Why VTEC doesn't Engage" Thread" The article stated that "*VSS/ SPEEDO if your car loses its speed reference vtec will not engage. the ecu will see it just as if you were sitting still reving the engine, no vtec" anyway i think this plug is my problem. I checked and the VSS is plugged in. Also the car red lines at 6500. Im running the p13 that came with the car. Everything on the donor car worked 100%. I drove it 750 miles from Minnesota with no problems. Here are the plugs.

anyone with any solutions...
please help!
thanks in advanced

Re: Wiring problem

guaranteed SOMETHING with your VSS is wrong/busted. only the speedo is controlled by the VSS, NOT the tach.

and like you read in HT, vtec depends on your speed so that won't work if your speedo isn't, and since your car doesn't know the car is moving, your odometer and tripometer (prolly) aren't working as well.

are you absolutely POSITIVE its not throwing another CEL (#7) for the VSS??

Re: Wiring problem

Re: Wiring problem

well first you should inspect it, make sure its in good condition. check the connector on top, make sure its making a good connection and the wires are good.
then since you did a motor swap, its possible the tab on the VSS that bolts it down to the tranny coulda snapped off, so the VSS isn't fully seated in the tranny. make sure the VSS doesn't move around at all.

Re: Wiring problem

first of all, thanks for your help man for real.
so i inspected the VSS and it looked alright. i un plugged the clip and then plugged it in again. when to start the car and the speedo was jumping up and down like it was getting some crazy readings. so i went back to the VSS and tried to make it as secure as can be. drove it and iit was working. god it feels amazing to have vtec again. but i stopped and shut the car off and when to see if it worked again and it didnt, but was doing the crazy readings again but worked fine after bout a minute. the clip in the VSS doesn't "clip" but feels like its just sitting there. do i have to push on it really hard? im assuming that the jumping is due to a loose connecting and also making the assumption that, that was my problem in the first place. Im so effin glad im getting closer to a solution

Re: Wiring problem

Where is the VSS located? My speedometer is weird as well. It doesn't start until I hit about 15 MPH, then it suddenly jumps up to my speed. After it jumps up, it works like normal...Any suggestions?
