What Transmission for H23A1?

Ok I know that transmission swap is a very covered topic, and I wouldn't create a thread unless I couldn't absolutely find the info I was looking for so here goes...

I have had my Lude for a little over 5 years now, and I am sick of my automatic. I would like to convert to a manual transmission and I am a little confused on what transmissions fit up to the H23A1 motor.

From the downloadable manual I see that the manual transmission for the H23A1 is the M2S4, but will any other work such as the M2F4 from the H22, or the M2L5 from the F22?

I am new to working on my Prelude, but I have worked on other cars and motorcycles and am very mechanically inclined.

Sorry if there is a thread on this already, but I wasn't able to find it. Please redirect me if there is one.

Thanks,
Kyle

Re: What Transmission for H23A1?

Cmon guys... I searched in the 4th gen forum in the stickies and in the tech area. And used the search tool using keywords like :

auto to manual
trannsmission swap
h23a transmission

maybe I am blind, or maybe it just wasn't stated as clear as day as you have all pointed out above, but like I said, I am very new to actually working on my prelude and am here fo advice and to learn.

I apologized in the original post, but I'll say it again...

Sorry that I wasn't able to find this info on my own.

Re: What Transmission for H23A1?

Feel free to use google too bud. its alot bigger than just the forums. :-)

"interchangeable prelude tranny" second post in first link gives you that exact sentence that nick gave.

Re: What Transmission for H23A1?

yea, go to a different shop

i have an h23 tranny on my f22 right now

the f22, h23, and h22 all use the same exact casing, just different gearing, which is why they're interchangeable.

Re: What Transmission for H23A1?

Personally I would just get the m2s4. That's what I'm runnin on my G22. Its the best stock gear ratios IMO. Not too short but not too long either. Just my .02. Here ya go btw...figured I'd hop on the bandwagon too lol.

All F and H trannies are interchangeable (minus s2k, or SH trannies). Dnt buy too much candy at once w/all these nickels. Ull get a tummy ache haha

If it's an Accord transmission, you'll need to tap one of the mounting points, but it will still go in just fine
