CEL Diagnostic Question/Problem

When I do the cel diagnostic check, my cel will not blink or turn off when I turn the key to the on position. Taking the jumper out, the cel goes away. Any ideas why I'm not getting a code?

My 92 lude Si 4ws is sputtering and I've changed the fuel filter figuring it was that but it still does. It started about 30 min after I messed with the idle. I was thinking I messed the MAP sensor up. But I want to do the diagnostic code first and came across this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: CEL Diagnostic Question/Problem

Yep. It just comes on and stays on without one blink. But goes off as soon as I pull the jumper. I left the ignition in the on position for 5 min and watched it to see it it would blink once but it never did.

Re: CEL Diagnostic Question/Problem

The car isnt running when I did the check.

Would the O2 sensor make it run rough (and not give a code)?

Re: CEL Diagnostic Question/Problem

I was wondering the same thing. With the check engine light not coming on when I drive, I guess it's not a sensor either.

Hi, late comer here. I guess you haven't solve this issue yet. May I ask you. does the cell gets on when jumping into the connector. It must be on rather. The last time i had the same problem, i leave the car engine running w/ the CEL on. That means don't turn it off. Then, jumper the 2 pin connecter and count how many flashes. Your SRS light on the dash should be blinking steady as well. If the SRS isn't blinking, you're not doing it right.
