Premature wear on CV Joints

Is it common to wear out CV joints on lowered Preludes? My car is lowered approximately 2.5 inches and I had to replace both inner CV joints with 137K on the odo.

Now that you mention it, yes that makes sense. Honda had the factory ride height set so that when being driven the axles are basically 90 degrees with the CV's. Lowering may infact cause the CV joints to be running at an altered angle which could increase wear. How did you know your inner CV's were shot (torn boots, vibration or audible sounds)?

Re: Premature wear on CV Joints

My indicators were torn boots, splashed grease, and vibration. After say 500 miles. Does anyone make CV joints or axle assys specifically for lowered hondas? Thanks for responding.

Re: Premature wear on CV Joints

i dunno if anyone makes aftermarket for lowerd ludes but i do know that a camber kit may be of some help or perhaps ur struts could be bad. check em out the possibilities are endless, than again when lowered u do take the risk of more stuff scarpeing ur boots and or getting crap up under there. good luck let me know how it turns out hope this helps!

Point me in the direction for Prelude friendly camber kits. Does anyone make an "all in one" lower or upper control arm with adjustable camber? My tires are wearing.

I also noticed after replacing both axle assys I still have a small vibration at low rpms during take off. Could it be engine or trans mounts?

Is that torn inner CV boots or just the outers? Vibration is normally the big give away of CV problems. As for vibration on take off, I think that would almost be normal but depends on traction. I wouldn't be too alarmed about it unless it gets more pronounced.

Re: Premature wear on CV Joints

The inner CV boot has a cut and a lot of grease has leaked out.
