Whadya mean I'm a moron?

Greetings fellow LUDEites,

I come in peace....and I could use some help!!!!

Having a headlight won't dim problem. Asked a question here about 10 days ago (first post) and I'm thinking I probably put it in the wrong forum....probably should have gone here.

Anyone know how to move a thread from one forum to another?

Or better yet, anyone know how in the heck to fix my headlight problem?

Here's the link:

Dimmer relay. I don't know much about wiring, but I'm sure someone else will chime in and help you out.

Yep, they appear to be....all of 'em are burning bright....constantly, high and low beam together.

Over on that "Tech Talk" forum where I originally started this, it was mentioned by a couple of folks that it was probably the steering column multi switch (Lights on, dimmer, turn signal). $86 and a new switch later....that's not the problem.

The dimmer relay "appears" to be working. It goes 'click' when I turn onthe lights or when I pull the lever with the lights off for 'flash to pass'. Loud click. I pulled the relay and show 72 Ohms across the control circuit which within acceptable range. I suppose the contacts on the switch legs could be corroded.

This one has really got me perplexed. I see in the Helms manual wiring diagram where everything has power all the time and all the switching does is supply a ground. Maybe I have a short in a wire somewhere...if so, I wish I could narrow down the search area.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Well, $19.95 and a new dimmer relay later..........no luck.

I also checked/cleaned G201 ground location and have continuity to ground on the battery.

What the heck am I missing here?

Don't know if this helps to narrow things down or not....but I notice that when I completely remove the dimmer relay from the under hood fuse/relay box and turn on the headlights....all 4 of them come on (both high beams and low beams), just like they did with the dimmer relay installed.

Anyone able to pull their dimmer relay, turn on the headlights, and tell me if both high beams and low beams come on?
