abs?

Ok so recently I did my rear pads. I also had to change my calipers and discs in the back ass they were siezed pretty badly. Anyways so i did all that and I figured my car has abs because its an sr-v and also each break has a set of wires going to each hub which seem to be abs sensors. SO i just wanted to see if my abs worked one day. So I slam on the breaks in the rain i was doing maybe 40km/h and the car just scretched to a stop So i was like huh did it again and still abs did not kick in. Not that i care if it works or not but what would cause this also the abs light is not on.

Re: abs?

if its a factory SR-V (and not swapped) than yes they SHOULD have ABS.

lemme ask you this; when you turn the key to II so all the dash lights come on, does the ABS light come on too? cuz it should.

if it doesn't turn on, the ABS coulda disabled itself so it doesn't work, and the ABS bulb could either be busted/burnt out so its not turning on.

Re: abs?

orrrrrrr go to a gravel or dirt road, get on the car then jam on the brakes and listen. if you hear a motor and your lights dim, well you got ABS. if your wheels lock up and you thought you might die, then you dont have ABS...

i do NOT take responsibility for any injuries while doing this, but its the best way to tell if your ABS is actually working, and not just installed and not working...

Re: abs?

lmao.. but dirt is slipperier. not allways does my ABS kick in in the rain. the backs will but the fronts will still grip. most older cars dont kick ABS on for the back and not the front, its for all 4.. so if his backs locked up and his fronts did not then thats normal. i have never had my abs kick on when my rears lock up, only with the front.

Re: abs?

Dirt is slippery? I reject your statement! Try using dirt to lubricate a bearing and let me know how that little experiment goes

Have you never been to a dirt track race? Your above comment is asinine and completely out of context. Yes dirt is slippery. Go drive in some.

Re: abs?

Actually it is not, smartass. Just because loose dirt moves easily does not make it slippery. When you slide on dirt it is not because the dirt is slippery, it is because the dirt moves easily...You should'nt go calling people out anyways .
