Wiring Help?? Pronto por favor

Here's the deal,

When I bought my car, both the ABS and the SRS lights were on. They continue to stay on because I don't know how to fix them. I saw the DIY on how to diagnose my ABS light, but once I looked in that area (to the right of the gas pedal), I saw two unplugged connectors.

My question is, what are these plugs for? If I plug them back in could it hurt my car? Remember that my car is mostly wired wrong due the the previous owner. I wanted to try and plug these back in and see what it does, but I'm afraid it might hurt my car due to the crappy wiring. Are there any consequences to plugging these in, even if my current wiring is screwed?

On another note, how do you thumbnail things in a thread? lol

Re: Wiring Help?? Pronto por favor

...Damnit. I just jumped the wrong one then!!! The DIY said the one closest to the passenger side??? The yellow 2 prong plug goes into the blue receiver (passenger side) and the blue 3 prong plug goes into the gray receiver(driver side). I figured the blue plug would have went into the blue receiver, but it doesn't. So I need to check the 3 prong blue plug on the drivers side? The DIY had me jumping the 2 prong plug on the passenger side...

the abs one is 3 plug.. the srs light should not be on unless its not plugged up on the steering wheel

Re: Wiring Help?? Pronto por favor

Well the SRS light is on. My dad thinks it's because I have an aftermarket bumper and he said they probably didn't install the SRS impact sensors??? I'm fairly sure the steering wheel has been off as well, so it could possibly be in there. I'm sorry about all of the questions, I'm new to cars.

Re: Wiring Help?? Pronto por favor

our cars only have two impact sensors, which are in the left and right of the dash. there's none on the bumper, so it isn't due to the body kit.

did you buy the car already modified? if so, there's a very good chance an aftermarket steering wheel was installed which almost always turns the SRS light on, and wasn't fixed correctly when putting the stock wheel back on.

Re: Wiring Help?? Pronto por favor

Yeah, it was already heavily modified. I believe the whole dash has been pulled out before. The bad part is that a dumbass did the modding, so now it's my job to fix it, and I have no experience! The only reason I have accomplished anything is because of you guys. I believe the steering wheel was off for a few reasons. One being that the little plates on either side and the one on the bottom are missing. Another being that the plastic steering column cover was broken and I had to repair it. I figured those were both good indicators. I want to take it off, but I don't want to mess it up more.

Is an "FSM" the repair manual? I feel dumb, but I have no clue. I'm just very new to cars and especially wiring. Do you think I should take my steering wheel off to check the plugs for my SRS light? I was going to use this guide to help:

How To: Install an aftermarket steering wheel (Civic 92-95) EG's - ClubCivic.com - Honda Civic Forum

Also, I check my ABS by jumping the 3 prong plug, right?

I just read the manual, and it said specifically to use the 2 prong plug? On page 899 of the online manual it says to not use the 3 prong? I'm really confused.

I really doubt that they touched the impact sensors for the SRS, I would assume that either the yellow plug is jumped, or not plugged in, or the ribbon spooly thing got ripped ( happened to me ).

You should fix that anyways...If you're hitting your dash hard enough to deploy your airbags then you need help.

I will check later today after I get back from class. I'm just going to take the steering wheel off and look. What about the ABS diagnosis plug? I have been told to jump the 3 prong plug, but the manual specifically not to? I'm so confused.
