h22a1 intermittent problem

okay so ill add in more details if i get some responses, this is for starters. i have a 93 lude with a swapped h22a1 that has about 83k miles on it. ive recently started burnin some oil, i can smell it burning if i dig into vtec in fourth and fifth gear where it has more time spent in vtec. im doing a compression check in the morning but last time i did that was a few months ago and it was within 7 psi across all four cylinders with the lowest being 243. ill find out tomorrow if thats changed. my real problem is that sometimes when accelerating it will have no balls at all. like first gear floored will feel like a third gear crawl and vtec isnt near as heavy hitting as when the car drives normal. however usually after a few minutes of this no nuts situation it will suddenly feel relieved and i can step on it and get set back in the seat again. im not sure what the hell is causing this and its my daily driver so i cant just rip the block apart and start messin with stuff bc i need it every day. any insight to what could be causing this would be greatly appreciated. i just want to keep my honda running till i have money to make it special

1. do you have the proper amount of oil?
2. do you let the car get to operating temperature before you start beating on it?

Re: h22a1 intermittent problem

current oil change has less than a thousand miles on it and i check the level every week, its not low. and im a stinge about operating temp, since i bought it ive never taken it past 2 grand till its getting warm and i drive it really light until its at full op temp. im an auto tech student right now and ive told my instructor what it does my problem is that it being a daily driver we cant do in depth diagnostics in the shop currently
