Icon5 Dont know what to do.. Help input would help

Ok so i got a 94 prelude si4ws, and i recently tore the motor apart gonna rebuild it and found a chip in the cylinder wall, and have thought about just jb welding it to get it back runnin but thats not gonna hold long, iv read where people have don it and it last 2 or 3 years and still holding, but i want my car unique, iv thought about j32a 3.2vtec swaps, v8 chevy swap. i even have a bmw 740il that i thought about puttin the motor and drive line in my lude.. but not sure what would be more likely than otheres. i have all the know how and tools to do a wild swap but i would like to get someone elses opinion?? i was thinkin the bmw 4.4 v8 FTW it would be really unique and i have everything to do it but it would cost alot for fabrication parts and alot of time! so what would you guys do?

Re: Dont know what to do.. Help input would help

the cost in fabrication alone of all the custom parts would be more than a brand new car. if you can't do the fabrication yourself, no "wild swaps" would be worth it.

but than again, one person's worth is different than another persons.

If its worth doing its worth overdoing,, i have a complete bmw and could fab my own mounts and wire it all up, but in the end i believe a smarter move stickin with honda engines, every part on the bmw is well over 400 bucks? it would be a first ever and ****in ba but worth the time and money im not so sure?

wait you just contradicted yourself...

first you said "it would cost alot for fabrication parts", then you say you can fab your own parts. which is it?

here's an example; kid was 95% done w/ an LS1, RWD swap.... and gave up

honestly man, its a prelude! i LOVE my prelude, but there is a fine line when it gets to be too much. why tear apart 2 cars when you can just drive the BMW for instance as it is? if it were me i would just keep it a prelude. like the poster above me (yo man whats up?! lmfao) i dont think any of these swaps have ever been finished. i would love to see it happen but honestly its not worth the money....at all.. just enjoy your prelude what what it is, and fix it..

If you really want something unique go g23 frankenstein! I've also heard of people going for a k engine swap, the mounts can be found here. K20a head and K24a1 block were some of the things people had done. I would, of course, recommend some Prelude pride and stick with an h-series engine.

Re: Dont know what to do.. Help input would help

yea i could fab the parts but the steal is gonna cost some money, the bmw has a busted freeze plug and it has been sittin in my yard for 3 years, now my lude about 6 months and i also have been drivinn a gas guzzlin 76 monte carlo and its drainin my cash quick i get 6 miles to the gallon.. its the only thing i have to drive right now so i was like what the hell i could put the bmw driveline in the lude,, and ive read up the the ls1 thread, i dont think he gave up as much as he was tryin to do it in a mid life crisis, gf left him then he lost his job,, what more can you do then quit and make some cash from it,, that is what gave me the inspiration to even consider this.. my h23 block is fxked, i could jb weld it and hope it holds for now,, but im used to wicked ass power,, v8 big block power at that,, thats why i considerd the bmw swap

Re: Dont know what to do.. Help input would help

From what you say I would advise against doing anything crazy at all. If you don't have enough money to pay for gas, then you're not going to have enough money to do a custom swap into the 'lude. Not to mention the time and effort it takes just to do it. I would recommend just either fixing the prelude or the bmw and living with it until you absolutely know for sure you're ready to do some crazy swap. That's just what I think though, do with it what you please.

Re: Dont know what to do.. Help input would help

you can't JB-weld H23 blocks, due to the FRM cylinder walls. honing them is as easy as a regular iron block either, you need to find someone who has experience doin them.
