3rd Gen Water Pump In 4th Gen?

I am after a waterpump for my 4th gen H22A (1991 / 92)

Found a good one for B21A1 engine new never used 1988-1991, will that work all good with h22a bb4 engine ? can any one confirm please?

And my waterpumps leaking n engine over heating so i should I just replace the pump right?

whats the cost to get it done? thanks

Re: 3rd Gen Water Pump In 4th Gen?

First, only thing I can say is i doubt they are compatible, b-engines are a bit different from H series engines. and on something critical like the water pump, I wouldn't want to screw around. From what I see from the picture, it won't fit at all I believe. My advice is go to your local honda dealership, they are only like $70. Personally, I'd rather do it once knowing I used the right parts, then have something bad happen and be stuck fixing not only the previous mistake, but fixing any damage done as a result of it.

not even close to the same. different shape, seal, pump, gear.

Price to have a mechanic install... $400-900. You my as well replace the timing belt too. The timing belt must be removed to install a water pump.

If you were local to me at all in GA, I would do the labor for $200...

Yes, the h23 water pump will work fine on the H22 (VTEC) motor with modification.

Disclaimer: I wouldnt recommend doing it though... Lots of hassle.

Follow these steps to make h23 water pump h22 compatible:

1.Remove h22 water pump from engine.
2.Use pulley puller to carefully remove the external gear off h22 water pump.
3.Use pulley puller to carefully remove the external gear off h23 water pump.
4. Place h22 gear onto NEW h23 water pump using a shop press..
5. Install h23 water pump with h22 gear on it.

Time required: Approx 1-1.5 hour with correct tools and previous knowledge.
