F22 tranny advice

So, I've had my 93 type S(Yes I know, lame.) with an auto(Also lame) and I was wondering if I was able to change the transmission to a stick, even though I haven't seen any type S with a stick... Is it even compatible?

yes, you can use an F22, H23, or H22 manual tranny.

Re: F22 tranny advice

you gotta reword that, there are/were no 4th gen "type-S" available, those were only in 5th gens, and overseas (not america). you have a prelude S, or S model. there is a huge, huge difference.

technically mine is an SE, but i have the heart of an S, an F22a1, as well as many others on this forum that have an S. prolly about 1/3 of the 4G's are S's.

Re: F22 tranny advice

Ok, sorry, my bad. S model. What I came to know was where was an S, SI, and SI-Vtec. I've the S model F22a1. I haven't bothered to research this extensively, but the main question I had was if I was to take an H22 or H23 tranny, would it fit on my F22. I realize that they are different size blocks, so I'm not sure what the answer would be.

Re: F22 tranny advice

i drive a S-model i love it its really tourqie and you can turbo the hell out of the engine but you gota plan on reworking the transmition to handle the turbocharger im sure. and it may not be much of a difference but the S is a lil bit lighter to.

Re: F22 tranny advice

yes man the F and H series are technically cousins the f22, h22, and h23 trans are all compatible and a conversion really isnt too complicated my friend got his done for pretty cheap stage 3 clutch, lightend flywheel, hydrolic trans and install for 900 which in reality is a pretty good deal.

and the f22 is a very very very under estimated motor preludes stock usually have 145bhp and close to the same btq.

they are deffinitly the most turbo friendly motor 4th gens come with just read up on builds and try to figure out what you would want to do man but get that conversion first ;)

Re: F22 tranny advice

lol, I plan to. What i've read is that the S-model has 135bhp. Judging by the different mods ive done, Im guessing its at 145bhp now.

Re: F22 tranny advice

yes the typical f22a1 has 135bhp but preludes came with a bit more of an agressive tune through the ecu so it gave us an additonal 10bhp man lol not much but hey atleast they cared enough to tune it !!! =)

I didnt know that prelude ecu's for F22s carried more BHP thats pretty sweet to know. So I'm carrying about 150-155bhp? Thats a nice thought.

Re: F22 tranny advice

yessir depending on your mods and yea there very under estimated motors thats why im considering keeping mine wanted to swap it but its running so strong on me i havent had the need to be swapped i might boost it and if/when it goes h23 or h22 then get all the necessary stuff bc h23 and f22 header and intake manifold bolt up but the h22 head pattern is different. thats something good to know too man btw makes searchs a bit more defined

Yeah. I've got 192k on my car, and its running beautifully. Still has the original OEM brakes XD I checked them and they were maybe half worn. The timing belt has never been changed, and its been in 2 or 3 accident :P one cuz of me. I gotta get that timing belt replaced though.

lol thanks man. I plan to leave the body the way it is, maybe get the stock spoiler put in. The rest'll be suspension and engine mods. I wanna be fast, but keep a low keep away from the police. My lude is pretty quiet too, I dont get why? Does yours idle at around 750rpms too?

Re: F22 tranny advice

yes after it is warmed up it idles pretty low, but im not looseing sleep over that lol. and i got a 2 1/2 inch custom magnaflow exhast for 250$ man pretty cheap for somehting that is needed if you wanna get started! lol not raspy at all either! but yea suspenison upgradeing is awesome i dont like coilovers but ppl always get them id stick with springs to your lowering choice and some tockico gas shocks and then misc. parts. and engine mods, the best thing to go fast on our motors is deff boost man! if you dont wanna half Azz it id go to bisimoto.com bisi is the man when it comes to any honda motor but ours specifically he built an all motor f22a1 and ran like 9 second quarter miles! look it up on youtube man straight nasty. but he understands the potential of any motor especially f22's!!

Re: F22 tranny advice

I wanna stray from the spray,if you know what I mean. I know this guy who used to own a '96 civic, and got a complete wet nos kit installed. When he raced a local guy on the freeway, he didnt prep the engine and blew a hole in the block. No spray for me.

lol, I'm quite happy that my car idles really low, saves gas :D One of these days, im gonna find out what kind of headers I got on my car to see how good they actually are. Ive already got Greddy exaust and a short ram intake. I dont wanna lean too much on proformance when I come to the point where Im losing MPG :P A nice suspension would be nice, smoother riding, coil-overs wernt really apealing to me, so I wont get them. Next on my list is an CAI.

Ditto man. The power in my car is gonna be reserved for when I drive alone. I was with friends when I was in my accident. Never again. I also wanna get a printable carbon fibre hood. I like the carbon fibre look, but I dont want the attention.

Lol, thanks man, I actually used Paint.NET for that edit. I want to make my car look very close to what I have there. I wanna see if I can get a hold on high-pro rotors and bremo calipers too.
