Header to exhaust question

im looking at buying an aftermarket header and full exhaust system. But does the header and exhaust system have to be the same brand?
Or will any system fit on to the end of any header? or do i have to match the diameter size???
I really dont know too much about exhaust so some help would be appreciated!!!!

thanks

Re: Header to exhaust question

they dont have to be the same brand, just made for your engine and car. id think matching the diameter you should but im not completely sure on that.

Re: Header to exhaust question

They actually don't even need to be all the same diameter. A welder can weld a bigger pipe down and vice versa.

In theory yes. Though I reccommend you do a little more research before spending any money.

You won't really see any gains if that's what you want...it'll just look nice under the hood and your car will be loud.

Yep. Unnecessarily loud. Check out the videos of the eBay twin loop muffler. That thing sounds great.

Re: Header to exhaust question

I like the N1 style, and noise. I'm sure everyone in a 3-5 block radius would dissagree but what ev. The Apexi Noir is pretty good too...when it comes to performance and sound... So I hear. Do some searching you'll eventually find something....

Re: Header to exhaust question

Megan header with the collector cut off and a 2.5" pipe welded on, a high flow cat, and exhaust of your choice is.
If you don't do that first part, you might as well keep your stock header.

Re: Header to exhaust question

Ok if you have a h23 the header will give you some good gains, now with a h22 you'll make like 2 more wheel hp. Now on the Apex'i N1 if you want a cat back that is going to last a long time go with the Gt spec its all stainless steel. Its also on the deeper tone side to.

The N1 a bit loud but only if you take out the stock cat. I've owned both cat backs and the n1's muffler gave (blew a hole in the back of it) because there is no drainage for water.

Now there is a better option on getting an exhaust for your car. A company named Kteller makes a pipe kit that is 2.5 inches for ludes that is pre-bent stainless steal. So you could use that and make your own cat back. I would recomend that you buy a Magnaflow muffler, Vibrent cat and resonator all in 2.5 inch sizing. You'll save your self some mony and you wont have a big a$$ fart can that will sound like a crap civic lol. If you don't know how to use google to find the stuff I was talking about pm me for some links

Re: Header to exhaust question

Custom is really the best way to go. And cheapest, unless you do some crazy mandrel bending, which isn't necessary unless you're running some crazy boost.

The Kteller is.
If you go into a muffler shop adn tell them you want 2.5" piping and give them the other stuff mentioned above, it will probably be crush bent. Most places don't have a mandrel bender.

!00% correct but let me add that all exhaust shops use crappy piping and it will rust in about a year, were the Kteller is stainless steel and well made stuff.
