Re: Big Mike's Prelude REBUILD

from autofashion..."Building a Honda to be unique is a hard task for just about anyone. So many fake kits, fake wheels, fake parts, etc. run rampant through this scene. But every so often there are cars that go beyond the others and just do there car justice. For example, Big Mikes prelude. You just cant touch that thing. Its unique in every sense of the word and i dont see any other prelude that can match up to his, at least not anytime soon."

congrats big mike

Thanks for the updates man. That was a ridiculous amount of pics. That LSBlue S2k = win. Those fenders are crazy. However....

Re: Big Mike's Prelude REBUILD

Hi Mike,

Your car is an inspiration.
I restore classic Honda motorcycles for a living, (check my sig) some of them are SUPER rare (we have a bike in at the mo that is the only one left, out of the original 4 that were built in 1958) so I have to work to some pretty high standards.

To see someone applying the creativity, and level of craftsmanship that you are, to a car, (especially a 'lude!) is a beautiful thing.

As an engineer, complete Honda freak and restorer I truely appreciate the detail you've gone to. You have my respect.

Im hoping that one day I will have the time, space and money to build my 4th gen up to a similar standard. (I'll have to stop playing with bikes for a bit first thought!)

Stevie

That one. "Holy ****" was directed at the tucked radiator. Not that exact tucked radiator, just them in general. I've never even seen that.

Stevie,

I am very, very glad that you took the time to post up in this thread with those kind words. I am very honored by your comments, I truly am. Coming from an "engineer, complete Honda freak and restorer," I could not have asked for a higher compliment. THANK YOU.

Sorry bro, but I think I am just missing which one in particular you are talking about.

But yea, tucked radiator setups are becoming increasingly popular within the elite Honda enthusiast/builder. I am seeing more and more pop up in multiples chassis.

I was just wondering why you chose not to do this. I am not saying that your bay is bad AT ALL. this is the sickest bay I have ever and will probably ever see. I was just figuring that with all the other mods like the tucked radiator and brake boosted delete that tha little things like the extra holes really were not a big deal anyway. Once again, much respect to your car and to you Mike. It was just an observation as I was drooling over the engine bay pics. :notwo rthy:

Re: Big Mike's Prelude REBUILD

Hmmm... well, I don't think you are doing anything "wrong" per se. I do not have that problem because I am using a belt with a lesser amount of ribs. I will look at the car when I get home and give you the belt number, but I am using a 3 or 4 rib belt, which is obviously smaller diameter than the one you are using, and I do not have any rubbing issues.

Stock is like, 5 rib right? I doubt it would hurt anything to run 3/4 ribs like BigMike said.

yep stock is 5 rib and definitely can't find a 5 rib 32" belt anywhere. but thanks for the idea big mike on running a 3 rib civic belt, i really like the relocator by the way and appreciate the reply.

Thanks man. Ok, so your using a 3 rib belt (BTW, sorry for not getting back to you with the part number on my belt. I just kept forgetting, hahaha. Sorry brotha.) and having no problems, right? Everything is good?

So Innovative wasn't helpful? Please elaborate.

Re: Big Mike's Prelude REBUILD

Ok, so I sold my Advan RGs and bought new wheels. I just put them on last night and I am LOVING IT. Let's just say that they completely change the look of the car. I have wanted a set of these wheels for many, many years and now I finally own them in the perfect sizing! I'm going to put my brand new Falken Azeni RT-615Ks on them, and get new lug nuts, and then dial in my suspension. The Spocom Long Beach Super Show is coming up, and I am going to debut the new setup there. My vehicle is going to be in Falken Tire's booth at this event, so look forward to great pictures to come fellas.
