How long do you guys think my tranny will live?

Hey guys,
My 4th gen has 230K on the original h23 tranny, I have an h22a swap with 80k on the motor, just got new axles, stage 2 clutch, and lightened flywheel...
Basically, as far as I know the oldest thing on the car is the tranny (and the chassis obviously)...
I get a little grind into 3rd gear but I hear thats a common problem with a lot of hondas, and I can usually avoid it by shifting at lower RPMs.

I'm just wondering whats the average life of my tranny. I do tend to drive it hard... but not stupidly.
I don't have too much to spend on the car and if it looks like its getting to the end of the tranny life I might have to sell it rather than have a useless lude sittin in the driveway : (.

yeah, so... any ideas?
Thanks guy!

the original MANUAL or AUTO H23 tranny, cuz thats a bigg difference.

our manuals are pretty damn reliable and last a helluva long time. the auto's on the other hand........

It's the 5spd (manual).

I wouldn't be complaining about shifting at high RPMs with an auto would I?

...would I?

Re: How long do you guys think my tranny will live?

my tranny is shoooootttt.....

3rd gear synco grinds if i shift it at high R's

if i double clutch it from first to second 2nd gear it wont grind

but otherwise 2nd gear synco always grinds...

but i still drive it real hard all the time and its still goin strong....its been like a year its been like that im just waiting for to get worse but it really hasnt

my tranny has had a hard life...the kid before me beat the hell out of it...

i got 200k on my tranny right now (h23) and no grinds or anything shifts like butter, next time you do a oil change i HIGLY recommend Royal Purple Motor Oil yes MOTOR OIL.... it works like a charm taking away grinds its good.

Re: How long do you guys think my tranny will live?

if it is just a minor grind i wouldnt worry about it. but if you are having trouble getting it into gear then your syncros deffinately need to be replaced. i think its like 30 buck a syncro. and the h23 tranny is pretty reliable. fifth gear is usually the gear that grinds on preludes. thats fairly common.

Re: How long do you guys think my tranny will live?

i meant the syncros themselves cost about 30 a piece. atleast thats what it was for my civic. i have no idea what the labor costs would be. i can imagine them being pretty high. if your up for learning experiances just do it yourself. that'll save you a ton of money.
