Eibach Pro-kit Spring Question?

Hey ive been looking around on here and I cant seem to find what I need.
For the eibach pro-kit springs what amount of the bump stops need to be cut down?
Sorry if this is a stupid question. I just don't want to be wrong.

Re: Eibach Pro-kit Spring Question?

its not a stupid question at all, matter of fact, its one of the more technical questions i've seen here recently

it varies from car to car and there's usually instructions to say how much to trim them if you buy the kit new.

but if your buyin them used, i would say between 1/3 and 1/2, but no more than 1/2.

and you trim off the skinnier part and discard it and keep the fatter part, in case it wasn't obvious.

Re: Eibach Pro-kit Spring Question?

I think I ended up cutting about 1" off the front bump stops on mine, I didn't have any instructions and at the last minute when I was about to put the assembly back together I remember they needed to be trimmed.

I replaced the struts with some Tokico blues, so far I love them a lot, its definitely a little bit firmer than stock, but I love freeway on ramps and off ramps now! The other day a friend and I were waiting for Quizno's to open so we went to the nearby freeway and went around 3 on ramps 270 degree turns on each and my friend was just holding on pretty much screaming. It was a blast.

Re: Eibach Pro-kit Spring Question?

I have been trying to find the answer to that myself. I wish there was an encyclopedia on this site instead of a search function. I know that would be a lot of work for someone, but it would be cool. Perhaps I have to learn the intricacies of the search function a bit more.

Did you buy new bump stops or are you going to use the old ones. I have a 5th gen and opted to buy the kyb boot/bump stop combo the other day because I'm putting on the sports and kyb agxs. Not sure if or how much my mechanic should cut either. Good luck.

Let me know what you end up cutting off and how this works. I have the Eibach Pro-Kit here next to me, and I'm getting the KYB AGXs soon.

if you only bought the shocks and no springs then you don't need to trim the bumpstops at all since you didn't install any lowering springs, which would shorten the effective length of the shock travel.

Re: Eibach Pro-kit Spring Question?

depends on which eibachs you go with. the pro-kits only lower the car about 1.5", where the sportlines slam it like 2.5".
