Re: help?!

Well the gun shot sound was most likely a back fire out of the intake. That would be caused buy you timing belt jumping. As far as a knock all Honda valve train a noisy as he!! But valves make more of a ticking sound.

What you should do to make sure you do/don't have knock is to start that car, have some one rev it to about 1200rpm and listen to the top end and bottom end to see were the sound is more ambient.

Re: help?!

"pushrods" lmao thats a term we never hear in the import world. you must be a domestic enthusiast.

you mighta skipped timing. if you pull off the valve cover the marks on the cam gears should line up w/ each other as well as the arrows both pointing straighit up. but this doesn't mean that the cams aren't lined up w/ the crank, so in order to determine this you gotta take off the crank pulley bolt (an impossibly job w/o the right tools) and see if the crank is @ TDC while the cam gears are also lined up.

Re: help?!

well, im a long time prelude lover/owner. but my last car was a mustang. i know... dnt judge me it seemed cool when i bought it.
i checked everything out and it all seems fine. its running great. the knock sounds more like a tick and if mizlude is right then im hoping everything is ok.
i got my door painted and some hood pins put in today. looks alot better. now im just waiting for my headers and exaust to come in the mail. i also got some fenders to put on with vents molded in the side. hope it looks good... ebay...

Re: help?!

no judgment on the mustang My accord used to make that sound from time to time. Do you have a cold air intake on it? From what I gather, it is the sound of different air masses inside the intake colliding. It happens when when a rush of air hits either a stagnant mass or a mass that was blocked off at the butterfly. or like Mizlude said it better, a backfire inside the intake lol.

Re: help?!

Mustangs didn't have pushrods since 93'

I get a backfire every now and then, but i have an air/fuel ratio gauge. I notice that i will get the backfire everytime I let off the gas and I go from a very rich mixture to a leaner mixture. But I agree with your timing being off, check it out. When was the last time you had your timing belt changed?
