article or ban! from what i've always heard, that build wouldn't have sufficient power for the prelude though.

Re: K24 lude

K24 is from alot of vehicles, he didn't specify.

The K24 in an acura TSX would make 200 hp and more torque than our H22s. The redline is 7000rpm though.

But the most recent trend is taking the K20 head, putting it on the K24 block and you'll have a torque-rich motor that has the internals on the head to rev freely.

Then to further sweeten the deal, Jackson Racing Superchargers make a more efficient supercharger than they have in the past and you can bolt that up to the K20 head.

I won't go around guessing the whp that would put out when tuned, but you can damn near bet it's juuuust shy of 300.

For reference though, the K24 block comes in the Accord, Element, CR-V and TSX. All of them are slightly tweaked for the application they're for (meaning they're going to make anywhere from 166 to 200 hp).

I keep hearing about that article and I have bought every modified magazine for the past months, but have yet to see that article. Somebody needs to scan it and put it up on here.

Re: K24 lude

here you guys go...i had extra time so i scanned the pages and uploaded them on photobucket so you could all see them...enjoy :) It's from the March 2009 issue of Modified Mag...pages 66-68

I cannot get that last line to scan on the last picture...it should read:
"...since Gilman's Prelude is not making almost 250 whp on a stock block and has far superior...."
and then in the second column:
"...has breathed new life into this classic Honda coupe."

and if you wanna be able to zoom them and stuff...

Re: K24 lude

that's not a bad idea of a swap.... especially after a reflash the k24 can rev to 7500rpms. then you mess around and get a k20 head and its a serious problem (solution)....

I love the H22, but I have to agree lol. That could be beastly. Anyone know the weight difference between the H22 longblock and the K24 longblock? That'd be good to know.

Re: K24 lude

seen it done on 8thcivic.com, my civic si site :D

with bolt-ons and k-pro tuning the k24/k20 head combo can make 230+ horsepower and nearly 200 torque, at the wheels. The redline is only about 7800 though, because the head only frees up a few safe revs. you can't really go over that, unless you want to blow the bottom end :D

My friend was going to swap his integra with a k20 civic type-r motor... then he drove my s2k, and now he's picking up one of those :D

Re: K24 lude

Compared the article written about Big Mike's 4G in Honda Tuning a few months ago, no. Lol...According to all the car mags, the 4G is a dead breed.
To quote HT: " If you were to never see a Prelude again, Big Mike's might provide the perfect lasting image." You know...because there's not another single gorgeous Prelude still out there besides his. Or this one: "Conjure up an image of the last great Prelude build you saw. It's not easy is it?" Howevever, I beg to differ HT. lol My favorite one though: "This 'Lude just might be the perfect tribute to one of HOnda's original sports coupes that has since left us but should never be forgotten."

Yeah. It's left us. That's why people *cough* Blake *cough* are nearly breaking into the 12's N/A, still spending thousands of dollars and hours on performance research, Preludes are winning SCCA sanctioned races, and I see more of them today than I have in years past.

Yep. The Prelude sure has "left us."

So why didnt they ever have the k24 out on market
What do you mean? Like why aren't K24's as readily available as B/F/H series motors? Probably because they're newer and a lot of the cars that came stock with them aren't in junkyards yet.

K series is slowly becoming the new B series. I can't wait to see the craziness.
