Clutch problem

Alright my clutch pedal engages way too early. I think it may be the reason why my clutch begins to slip when I drove the car more than 10 miles. I tried to adjust the master cylinder but the rod won't turn either way. Any help/advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Need to figure this out before it completely destroys my new clutch.
