swapping heads

So I picked up a f22 and trans out of a type s, but I was told that the h22, h23 and f22 heads are interchangeable, does anybody know if the h23 head will work on a f22?

They are considered "Frankenstein" motors. They aren't supposed to line up correctly, hence the name. There is an oil gally or two that needs to be blocked up with honda bond. I know with the F22/H22 head swap you also must shave off some of the head or the block. I can't remember which.

I was looking into a G22 or G23 Frankenstein build when I first purchased the prelude. Its a whole hell of a mess that I didnt really want to get into. leme see if I can find the other thread I posted in that has the other information in it.

**EDIT**
I really can't find the other thread that I posted in, but let me kind of some this up...

Its a cheap, boostable build. Thats the basic point to it. And to be different. The F22 bottom end is incredible for boost. The down side is that F22A is SOHC-Non-vtec, and F22B is SOHC-Vtec. They are boost ready motors that don't require a lot of $$$ on bottom end internals. Like I said to the other guy that posted, I've rebuilt a few motors in my day, and I really didn't want to even begin a Frankenstein build. They are unreliable from what I hear, and very very rare. If you have problems, there aren't too many people you can turn to for help.

Good luck with everything if you decide to follow through with it. I'm just giving you the heads up.

Oh and the F22 prelude is just a prelude S, not type S

Re: swapping heads

alright well thanx for the info, see i when I bought the car I blew the h23 which upon investigation I only ruined the crank the plan is to do a complete h23 vtec rebuild with pistons rods etc, i only bought the f22 so I can drive my car this summer but my h23 head is still good so if it fit i was gonna put it on, so instead I'm just gonna put a new head gasket, water pump, and belt on the f22 and drop it in so I can drive. Oh umm I also seen the auto to 5spd ecu trick for 5th gens do you know is there a similar trick to convert a auto ecu to a 5spd ecu for the h23 ecu?

Re: swapping heads

Honestly I'm not really sure. I never heard of the 5spd trick, and I've never actually done a 5spd swap so I'm not really familiar with all that. Instead of putting the H23 head on the F22, just drive the f22 till it shiits out on you, and in the mean time, just start building up the h23.
