burning oil :(

I am pretty sure im burning oil (losing it gradually throughout weeks and white smoke out of exahust) my car has 155k on it h22a1 1994, and i am adding oil to it but am afraid it will go soon, it just doesnt sound good anymore, would it be best to save for a motor jdm h22a? for i have recently put in (stage 1 exedy clutch, new radiator, new brakes rotors calipers, timing belt water pump, sway bar) would it be best to buy a new motor or buy a new car??

Re: burning oil :(

If your budget is $9k, why not just spend ~$1500 on a nice motor, then use the other ~$7500 getting boots for it?

Re: burning oil :(

do you know where the oil is burning through.....could be something as simple as a valve seal. could be rings.........
either way if its just one or the other it could be just a few hundred to fix it if you do it your self.
the way i look at jdm motors now that i have torn apart bolth a usdm and jdm h22........i dont understand why people will shell out the money for a jdm motor vs usdm the changes are so minimal but yet people pay so much for them.
the jdm has a raised 11.6-1 pistion and the cams are just a little different in spec. enough to make what is it 10 more hp?

go buy yourself 16 new valve seals at honda $1.50 each and some new rings
$160 for the set for all 4 pistions. rip the engine out, seperate the head and tranny from the block, knock the pistions out and take the block to a machine shop shop to get honed and vated, youd be out maybe $70
throw in a new set of bottom end and top end bearings $100-200
new head gasket and eye ball the rest of the gaskets for replacement could be as little as $50
that could stay under $400-500 to fix it top to bottom and youve got basicly a brand new motor. throw in a new timing belt if you want...
