Re: DYI 5g Sunroof on a 4G

I don't believe it even works....

I think 93-96 accord glass sunroofs fit our cars, or some years like that.

Thats not for someone who doesnt have much DIY experience. That looks like a great mod, but definitely not for the novice.

Re: DYI 5g Sunroof on a 4G

The 4th gen with an accord sunroof just doesn't cut it for me. It just looks like way too much glass in one area.

Re: DYI 5g Sunroof on a 4G

the 5th gen sunroof fits in the 4th gen.
Basically....
-remove old metal sunroof
-remove metal brackets that the sunroof bolts too....(its a few screws per side)
-lay brackets on the glass roof and see where you need to drill the bracket for the glass to fit.
-trim metal pieces that stick down

The 5th gen glass commonly doesn't fit exactly like the 4th gen, but I don't mind. The wind noise gets annoying at highway speeds tho, so i just vent it like in the pic.
This is mine vented up a little

Re: DYI 5g Sunroof on a 4G

I had a glass one on mine, but I removed it because I did not like the wind noise. It would stick up about 2mm in the front and back, that was with the spacers removed too. If I could find a way to trim it down I would def put it back in. Even if it dose add 6lb.

I still have it.

it looks so much better than a metal one with swiss cheese rust patches. Even though it doesn't sit flush. I don't care tho...I can deal with the noise.

It doesn't stick up if you use the 5g assembly, and no wind noise. Here's a pic of mine:

It does sit a few mm low in the rear but not bad at all.

If you do it right the is no noise even if you use the 4th gen asssembly and no it does not leak once again if it is done right and with care.

oh and nice job on your installation that looks factory with the sun shade on it. sean1121

I am to lazy to do the full conversion.

The Honda specialized junk yard near me sells them for $75 each.

You can, but I think the way I did it looks better, especially on the inside of the car.

you can just take just the glass and use the 4th gen rails. But you have to widen a couple of the holes.

Using the 4th gen rails and sunroof motor assembly is apparently what causes it to stick up a few mm's.

Re: DYI 5g Sunroof on a 4G

well thanks to jesus98lude and one of my other friends, we finished this project. i figured what the hell... so saturday we ended up doing it

it took us about 3 hours and thats without having any of the write ups beside us.... we pretty much winged it but it looks awesome..

pics later on tonight

as a side note, no drilling or grinding of anykind was involved we just layed the 2 sunroofs side by side and used parts from both to put the glass on the

4th gen rails
