how to clean a manifold??

ive bought a stainless steel 4 branch manifold, its second hand but in good condition,
but how do you clean up this manifold??
i would like to get it all shiny and new looking before i put it on the car

when i bought it, it was all brown and dirty looking, ive applyed cif and rubbed vigoursly for a bit, only to find it strips back to the silver

are all manifolds silver??? and if so, is there some product out there that would get back to the silver without spending hours scrubbing

thanks fellas

ps ive got it for 50 euros = 30 dollers, is that a bargain??

Re: how to clean a manifold??

i did a search on google and found a few threads about polishing your manifold but it looks like a hell of alot of work!!

here is a link to one of the write-ups to give you an idea of what is involved...

i haven't a clue how much manifolds normally make but 50euro doesn't sound bad
