Hi there, I'am swapping my f22 engine with a h22 and need to know if the engine mountings are the same.

Re: Swap F22 with H22

Yes the motor mounts in your car work for f22, h23, and h22. Almost everything else will have to be swapped out tho.

Re: Swap F22 with H22

whats up fam...if the motor ur swappin is a USDM this is wat ur gonna to swap out. i've done the swap on my 92. it orginally came with a H23...
(i swapped a JDM H22A)
-if the engine harness is the same as a H23 u can use it. u will jus have a 2 run a wire from the H22A ecu vtec pin port to the vtec solenoid on the motor. ground the other wire to the bolt tha holds the cam holder down.
- u may have to grind off some metal off the power steering bracket to get it 2 bolt up or jus remove ur power steering completely. (i did. not really needed n my opinion, cleaned up the engine bay, n added a lil pep)
- u may have to use switch out the pulleys on the alternator/ or use the crank pulley of the F22 depending on the number of grooves. ( jus compare n decide what u need)
-make sure 2 use the H22 injectors they are different from the F22's.
-u may have 2 go n buy a header becuz the H22's run a lil longer underneath the oil pan.
don't 4get 2 set the timin when u 1st start it up. it may try to "learn" the idle by itslef by revin up n down. it'll eventually stop. if not check all ur connections (sensor n hoses) and set the timing usin a timing gun.
i think thats it. 2 my knowledge thats all u need 2 switch out. (thats if erythings tha same as a H23.) hope this helps out.

Re: Swap F22 with H22

what do u mean by did the motor touch anywhere?
if the wiring harness is the same as a H23 u shuldn't have to remove it. u'll jus have 2 run tha vtec wire from the solenoid to ecu vtec pin port.

Well i've got my engine almost in place and my gearbox is touching the back bracket. Even my engine mounting holes are a little bit out.

Re: Swap F22 with H22

wen i swapped mines n i didn't have no problems. what gearbox r u talkin bout? u have 2 kinda put the motor n at an angle. by this i mean put the pass side in 1st. mount the trans mount 2 the body. jus start the bolt a couple threads then do the rear mounts n start the bolts as well. the front mount n driver side mount r the easier 1's. remember 2 jus start the treads enough but do not tighten. also r u using a H22 trans or the F22 trans? if u use the F22 trans u will fall (disengage) out of vtec everytime u shift. u can give me a call if u want 4 faster help.

Re: Swap F22 with H22

alright I'm jumpin in this thread. I have not done this swap myself but I am familiar with the motor mount structure of a 4th and 5th gen ludes. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but from what I understand, the f22 tranny is much stonger and is actually recommended for the swap. The problem with that tranny causing you to drop Vtec when shifting is not that bad b/c you can redline about 250-500 extra rpm SAFELY to keep vtec engaged. The JDM (and usdm for that matter) h22 is strong enough to handle the stress safely. I have buried the needle beyond 8K rpm and never even almost felt a problem. But like I said, someone please feel free to add numbers to prove or disprove me.

Re: Swap F22 with H22

You are right. My friend has an f series tranny in his h swapped accord. The gears a a little more stretched out and if you shift just right it will stay in vtec... the boy can't really drive though so he has no such luck. lol

Re: Swap F22 with H22

Mdtdnb is right, the H22 can easily rev to 7450-7700 without too much problems. You'll definitely need to do that in order to stay in VTEC during WoT runs. An upgraded head might not be a bad idea either.

Re: Swap F22 with H22

tha F22 trans in my opinion is good 4 boost. if u wer 2 put H22 with H22/H23 trans against a H22 with a F22 trans, the H22 wit the H22/H23 trans wuld win. the gears r somewhat longer n the F22 n like i said would b perfect 4 boosted applications. i can also say from personal experience that the H23 trans wuld b best 2 go with. also before i built my head i would take my H22A up to 8200rpm. now tha its built its reliable up 2 11k. guaranteed!!!
