Re: is it possible

engine codes would be helpful, i.e: H22, F20, etc etc.
your current dohc vtec is the H22 (might be an H23, but doubt it)

but the 2.0 could either be an F20 which does fit in a 4G body, so doing the reverse is also possible.
but the 2.0 could also be a B20 from the 3G's, in which case it is extremely hard to use 4G motors in 3G's, and vice versa.

Re: is it possible

theres a few h22'd 3rd gens running around Tampa....

but ya...engine codes would be useful.

2.0L could be b20 or f20...very different as far as mounting and power

Re: is it possible

so let me get this, arent all 4th generation bb1-bb4??

you see i crashed my car today, but i could pick up another 4th gen cheaper than getting the parts and getting the front straightened ( chaassis wasent touched, just cosmetic damage), so every single thing will be taken out of the crashed and put into the 2.0 litre car, but im concerned about the engine mounts

wouldnt the mounts on the 2.2 go into the 2.0??

and the codes for the crashed prelude are
BB4 ......... and the engine is the H22A
arent 2.0 preludes 4th gen also bb4??

yes.

its just the way you worded it. i'm assuming your not from the states cuz we never had a 2.0 offered in 4th gens over here, only 3rds. so i was just making sure you weren't talking about putting the H22 into a 3rd gen, which HAS been done plenty of times, you just need ~$500 motor mounts.

so to answer your question, yes you can put the H22 into the other 4th gen. again since we never had the 2.0 offered over here, i'm not positive if the mounts will be exactly the same, but i have a good feeling they are, in which case it'll be almost a direct drop-in.

Re: is it possible

well i think the h22a head is the same head as the f20. and you can certainly use the transmission from the 2.0...so I would assume the mount would work.

Sounds like a drop in swap to me. As long as you're dealing with the 4th gen...

thats what im hoping for, you see the mounts will be different on the 2.0 litre
but if i use my own mounts for the 2.2 vtec, because its the same shape car, wouldnt there be holes or bolts for the mounts??, i mean (and i hope) that all 4th gen preludes were made the same, in regards to the shell.
and that differant engines required differant mounts,

hopefully thats the case, but i would like to know more as id know where i stand, ye guys in the usa love engine conversions, so i was hoping someone would have had similar storys like me

its the 4th definatly, i couldnt have another prelude other than the 4th, their just class, and in my eyes the best of the lot
mind you, id love a 3rd with a 2.2 vtec, but thats just alot of hard work

as regards to the swap, everthing will be stripped from the vtec si and put in the 2.0, im just hoping there wasent something different between the 2.0 and the vtec where the mounts are concerned

id say im in luck so
i can get an automatic 2.0 for 400 euro
i can swap everything myself, so in regards to 1200 euro to fix the crashed prelude, its a cheap fix (hopefully if things go straight foward)

thanks for the replys fellas
