HVAC Controls will not work... help.

I have a 1992 Prelude Si I aquired from my father. When I recieved the car everything was fine besideds the transmission shifting badly. I've owned the car about a year when I started having a problem with my HVAC controls. I would press the vent button to go to floor and it would click repeatedly then finally it would switch over. Now it's just stuck on vent. Any ideas what part might be the culprit? Also my transmission slips between it shifting from first to second then rapidly shifts into third. I think it might be second gear. Cheaper to find a used low mileage trani and get it installed or try to get my 158k transmission fixed?

Thanks,

Drew

first on the tranny question, do a 5 speed swap
next on the climate control issue a little more info would help. when you press the button ONCE does it just click multiple times or do you have to hit the button multiple times? there has been a very well known issue with the solder points in the climate control on the 4g.

Cheaper to find a used transmission for it by far. Yea sometimes when I press my vent button nothing happens, it just stays on whatever it was at before. I really don't know what is up with that.

Re: HVAC Controls will not work... help.

you press air to the floor button for example, the light would show you pressed the floor button, it would click, click, click fast and repeatedly until it actually clicked enough to move completely into the floor position. It almost sounds like a electric childs toy with spinning wheels and you hold the wheels so they cannot move and the gears click. But now, it doesnt click or anything. Are there any gears in the air flow diverter manifold? not sure if that's what you call it but thats what i'd call it..lol

5 speed swap sounds fun but maybe I can find one matched up to a h22 or something when I decide to do a motor swap. The easier route seems like staying with the automatic trani. I dont really have alot of time to search parts and stuff local junk yards and things. Good idea though.

ididdy- search the forum for the 4g climate control fix.
mountaindrew- it sounds to me like your blend door motors are going out.
