Having some trouble steering my 92 prelude si. While driving the steering wheel bobs to the left and sort of bounces there. Can still keep the car on the road but the steering is erratic and worsens with greater speeds over 40 mph. It'll only do it continually while I'm giving gas or take it out of gear. I have been told that this is a good indication that the wheel bearing is going bad but I fear It could be something even worse. Another thing I find strange is that it did this twice in the same night but and hasn't done again since. I have only driven once more since the first time. Any opinions would be nice :)

Re: Not sure what the problem is now...

Sounds to me like it could be quite a few things...

1. You need an alignment
2. You need new tie rods
3. You have a frozen caliper slider

#3 is what I had. My wheel would jerk all the way to the left, and it would bounce just like you said for a minute, then it would return to normal. I almost died one night when I was doin like 60 on a main road. It jerked and scared the shiit outta me. Kind of describe what your talking about more in detail.

Re: Not sure what the problem is now...

I see. Well what you happened to you doesn't seem like what my car is doing. The wheel is jerking to the left but then just as abruptly returning to center and repeating about every second and sometimes even faster than that. Also It really isn't jerking significantly enough to pull me off the road but would if I let off the wheel. I know my car has some alignment issues and the car had been hit previously so I just recently found out that the rear sub frame in the front of the car is bent backwards by almost an inch and causing strain on the shaft. Thats why I thought it may be a wheel bearing or even the half shaft the could be going out. I don't know. I've been thinking of just pulling it all out. Maybe see if it's something I can replace til I get it in the frame shop.
