a few problems, help?

my car is acting oddly, i have to give it a lot of gas for it to go into gear
I start it, put it in first then it stalls if i dont floor it
I have a brand new clutch so i dont think that is the problem

recently my shifter cable snapped, the one that controls reverse i suppose.

i ordered a used shifter with the cables attached

i dont know if this has anything to do with having to give it so much gas to get it to move

And i was wondering if i should change the spark plugs? some oil fell through the holes and got all over them while i was painting my valve cover

also my slave cylinder wont come loose to bleed it and there is no rubber nipple on it

I really need help ive had the car for a month now and i want to get it to run good

So any input will be greatly appreciated
Thank you

craig

Re: a few problems, help?

being i have not yet torn apart a prelude shifter assembly i cannot comment on the cables.

however the slave cilinder, when you say it wont come loose are you refering to the bleeder nut or was there something else you were trying to do?

if you have any question or doubt about the spark plugs change them.
ohm out the wires if your familiar with volt meters.
new cap and rotor never hurts either.

is it rather difficult to get into gears from a stop, how does it feel once its moving?

I am trying to loosen the bleeder nut

from a stop i have to put it into gear and give it a lot of gas and then when its moving i have to give it a lot of gas or it bogs down i guess

i havent driven it after i fixed a vacuum hose leak

battery wont charge

ok this is a easy one. my car done this about a week ago i bleed the system everything went back to normal. If u bleeder screw is stuck just get a new slave cylinder there 22 bucks at auto zone. plugs would not cause this problem.

Re: a few problems, help?

oh my bad didnt see last post well if ur battery isnt charging. ur ecu will not get proper operating voltage. so it could make ingition timing, fuel control, etc go crazy i would check the alt. fuse if ok. remove the alternator and take and have it checked. also make sure the belt is tight

Re: a few problems, help?

its pretty easy. just unscrew the two bolts that have it mounted. everything else is very self explanitory just by looking at it.

Re: a few problems, help?

yes. you will not have to go under the car for any reason unless you drop tools due tot he lack of wiggle room. it was kind of tricky for me cuz i have big hands but i got it replaced in about 30 min no promlems

Re: a few problems, help?

Excessive valve overlap I think. Mess with your timing at all?

Re: a few problems, help?

Well I'm pretty sure that backfiring is caused by too much valve overlap, so you might wanna get your timing checked.

The lude I just got has a backfiring problem

it happens always when starting from 0mph and I press the gas...it backfires before it gets going

Then sometimes while rolling it will backfire a few times

Is it spark plug issue or fuel pump issue?

try changing the fuel filter first
thats what i was told to do im doing it soon i can let you know if that helps me
check your cat
check your 02 sensor, come out of the factory running rich
you can get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and fix it that way with a air/fuel ratio gauge
