Serious situation

I wouldn't call it a problem, just a situation, ok heres the story.

Ever since I first got my car it has ran exactly 60 mph at 2k in 5th, then today i wake up and bam, first thing i notice when i start it, the idol is down from around 1300 to just under 1000. I didn't think anything of it.

As i'm driving down the street i look down and realize im now running 2k in 5th at only 50, It's like someone changed the transmission over night, it pulls harder, shifts smother, rev matching is easier, down shifts are alot better in the corners... so as of now i love it. I'm just checking to see if this is some heavenly way of knowing a problem is coming.

Let me know,
Marshall

Re: Serious situation

It sounds like it had a problem that fixed itself. Good luck with it.

Re: Serious situation

gears ratios dont change on a car over night, you can be driving a h22 or h23 or f22 and have the same tranny, no matter which rpm you at they should all be at the same speed.

Idle is 750 +/- 50rpms. It's still a little high. But yeah that's weird man.

Has it been cold recently? The viscosity of your tranny fluid might be throwing you off.

I would kind of expect the temperature to be the other way around, but that might be it.

Re: Serious situation

92hprelude just turn your idle speed down a bit yuo can make it go down to 0 if you want i dont recommend it but you can have it idle at whatever your little heart desires but it shouldnt idle at 1500 probably not good and for the original post your idle speed could have gotten a little messed up from the cold too since stuff condenses when its cold maybe your nut on the idle speed has it stuck up a little but if its runnin better then ever just leave it there until it drops or gets higher then adjust it back to where you see it running the best
