Good Deal?

Hey someone is selling their EL gauges, silver inverter box, and wiring harness from their '94 SI for $75. This seems like a really good deal to me, considering the wiring harness is supposedly hard to find. I have a '93 VTEC and I've been wanting the EL gauges since I got my ride. So, does this sound like a good deal?

Re: Good Deal?

thats not a bad deal.

but you gotta remember the mileage on the cluster isn't gonna match the car anymore.
and also the redlines of the SI and vtec's are different as well, so thats gonna be different.

Re: Good Deal?

Ya, I know... the guy said that the cluster has somewhere between 150k - 170k miles on it. It hasn't been in the car for awhile, he's completely parting it out. My car has almost 150k miles on it, so at least it would be close I guess. Is there anyway to change the odometer to match the mileage on my car? And the red line thing kinda sucks, but this just seems like a pretty good deal to me. My car is just a daily driver anyway, so the red line really isn't that important, as long as I remember what it is, haha.

Re: Good Deal?

good, as long as you realize that.

and yea there is a way to change the mileage. this kid is an electrical genioussss:
EL Cluster Digital Odometer Modification

i guess it's better that you have an H22 with an H23 cluster instead of vice versa, where you think just cuz the tach redlines @ 7200 means the motor does too. haha

sorry if our 4th gens are more technically advanced than your newer cars(cheap shot @ 5G's ), but our odometers are digital, not manual

Re: Good Deal?

I was thinking exactly the same about the redline, haha... It's 6800 instead of 7200, right? That really isn't a big deal considering I really don't ever need to rev that high anyway... unless I wanna show off of course. And as for the odometer thing, I can already tell I would have no idea how to do that, haha. BTW, how hard is it to switch out clusters and install the EL cluster if I have the harness and everything? Is it just basically unplugging the old one and replugging in the new one?

Re: Good Deal?

yep that pretty much it just unplug everything, and to make things easier as you remove the old plugs, plug in the new one at the same time so you mix it up.

lol naw you still gotta disassemble parts on the dash i'd say from anywhere around 45mins to a couple of hours depending on skill level and past experience with messing around with the dash, which isn't the easiest thing to do.

Re: Good Deal?

How do you take apart the dash? From the tweeter next to the gauge cluster? Would I need any tools?

Re: Good Deal?

That's a good deal. I'm parting out a 94 Si and I'm selling just the cluster for $150. If you install it yourself remember where you set down all the screws and where they go. Every time I touch my cars I lose a screw somewhere and never find it again. But nothing rattles.
