I'm wondering if my car is okay

I know that I have a good healthy motor, but I'm wondering if I'm getting robbed of horse power somewhere. I have the h23 with i/h/e.

Kronicus has the h22 and when we race we're neck to neck until his vtec hits then he's gone. When I race my cousin we're neck to neck the whole way. He has a 87 pontiac Fiero GT v6 which I believe is pushing 140 hp stock. Now I know that horse power isn't everything, but being that the h23 is 160 horses plus i/h/e it seems like i should be pulling my cousin, right? Also, I can't seem to pull a 2000 civic Si vtec with h/i/e

Is my car being robbed of power? It really just doesn't seem right it confuses me that I can be head to head with an h22 until vtec, but I can't pull my cousin.

Well i/h/e doesnt do too much. But your h23 is rated at 160, but its prolly somewher about 130. Just face it, you need to ditch the h23, and do the swap. Civics are lighter than preludes, and the civic si is a beast. If you wanted to get a little more outta of it a good tune would help, but you could just stop the worring get the 22, nice IHE setup, a good tune and tune friendly ecu, and get closer to 200, and smoke a 3 of the listed vehicles.

just my .02

1986 Pontiac Fiero GT 0-60 8.0 1/4 16.2 so it right with your h23. Like si96 said time to think about the H22

Re: I'm wondering if my car is okay

H23 is a big motor but lacks high end punch. With I/H/E it should make driving your Si, "fun." DONT expect it to give you like 20 horses to the wheel. I hate to say it but to achieve high end power, look to the h22 which is the easiet and most efficient swap you can do into a 4th gen Prelude.

...oh, and i've lost only once to a Civic Si (99-00) against my 3rd gen. I dont see why everyone sweats those as much as they do. I hope this thread (after my post) doesn't turn into a "bench racing" thread :06:

Re: I'm wondering if my car is okay

One thing to consider is power to weight ratio as well...like for example a Lotus.

against the H22 makes perfect sense, since H22's make almost the same power until 5200 (when vtec kicks in).
but 99 civics also weighs 200 pounds lighter than our 4th gens.

Re: I'm wondering if my car is okay

Face it, your Si is slow. Do somethin about it. Just don't do what I did and buy some garbage off e-bay that's now gonna cost me a small fortune just to get on the road and legal.
