What wire is connected to the headlights?

Hi guys i was just wondering what colour is the wire that connects the headlight controll switch to the head lights themselves?
Because i want my voltmeter light to come on with my lights.
i currently have it connected to my cigarette lighter and would rather have the light come on at the same time as my headlights instead of coming on when i start my car.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I hope i made sense lol.

Re: What wire is connected to the headlights?

Run it to your fuse box. Find the fuse for your tail lights. There is really no need to run it to the actual lamp. Use a test light to find your power source. good luck.

How would you go about tapping into the fuse box?

Re: What wire is connected to the headlights?

the wire comming off the fuse box to the left headlight assembly is red wire with a yellow tracer. the wire for the right headlight assembly is a red wire with a green tracer.

the above is a part you can use to add a circuit to a fuse panel.

Is this the fuse box under to dash or the one located in the engine bay?

Re: What wire is connected to the headlights?

the left headlight is powered by a red wire with a yellow tracer off the under hood fuse box, and the right headlight is a red wire with a green tracer. but you might want to use a test light or volt meter to check a red wire with a blue tracer, that might be able t o be used as well.
