Are our preludes a little hard to shift?

Well now that my prelude is a 5 speed i am loving it but I have noticed that it seems to be a little harder to shift than my old 95 civic 5 speed, just feels a little sloppy. Is that due to having a cable shift where the civic didn't? Has anyone else noticed this or could I have something wrong?

Mine isn't. Then again, I'm going from a Mustang Pro 5.0 shifter too.

well it could be alot of things, have you checked your fluids? shift linkage? is it a new clutch? do you hear any nosie when you shift? like can you hear your transmission go into gear? if you do then theres a problem lol

Re: Are our preludes a little hard to shift?

mine's a little sloppy too, I took it to the tranny shop and was told its fine. But I'm thinkin I need another opinion. My first lude was a 93' and shifted perfect, tight, quiet and smooth.

Brand new clutch and pressure plate, just installed the shift linkage with all the washers and clips, no noise when I shift.

Re: Are our preludes a little hard to shift?

I have a '95 SI and I have so problems, nothing major at all, its just hard to put it in 1st gear at times, its more then just gears not lining up appropriately, but like I said its real small and it really doesn't effect my driving so its all good. lol hope that helps

Re: Are our preludes a little hard to shift?

i have had the same problems. i think it depends on your miles and such. i have always owned hondas. five to be exact and three of them were manuals. they have all shifted the same. as for the fifth gear grinding, that is very typical in preludes. its the stock syncros in the tranny arent very good. my clutch is hydrolic. id check all the things the previous guy said to check. otherwise its just normal.

Re: Are our preludes a little hard to shift?

I don't have any problems. A little hard to put it into first when coming to a stop like you guys mentioned. I think it's supposed to be like that though, my last car was the same way. I would guess it's a safety thing.

I am wanting to get a short shifter to tighten things up a little though. :D

Re: Are our preludes a little hard to shift?

i don't have any problem shifting in my SI, shifts nice and smooth. yeah there is a detent to make it harder to shift into 1 when coming to a stop, but that is similar to lock so you can't drop it into R from 5.

i have a 4th gen an recently got a new transmission with low milage an it shifts like butter...

as for droping it in first when your coming to a light or stop sign?

i always drop it in 2nd because excalty the rpms are to high so stop in 2nd then go into 1st you shouldnt have any problems. lol
