Auto to manual swap

Hey guys, I've been wanting to do a manual swap on my 92 SI for quite some time now....i may have no choice but to do it now. I tried searching and all i seem to find are swaps in 5th gens....i can only imagine things arnt too different but i figure id ask. What are the bare minimums i need to do a manual swap into my car... And (I know this is a pretty hard question to answer because the parts could all come at different prices) how much do you think it would run me?

Thanks for any and all help, i really appreciate it.

Re: Auto to manual swap

Just sent you a PM with a link to a great 4th gen 5 speed swap write up. It will cost you anywhere from $700 - 1,500 depending on the parts and tranny you decide to use.

Well I used an accord transmission, shifter cables, and shifter assembly. If you get a 94-97 accord tranny you will need to get the correct starter for the tranny. Found that out the hard way. I am pretty sure you can use the accord flywheel and clutch assembly but would want to replace the clutch assembly with a new one anyway. I also pretty sure you can use the accord axles but you would have to have the accord intermediate shaft to go with them.

Re: Auto to manual swap

hey thanks for the reply! if i can get everything out of an accord id be stoked! it'd make it so much easier....i didnt know you could use the axels or shifter assembly out of one too...thats one of the things i thought id be screwed on lol...hmm...hopefully i can use the clutch master/slave cylinders and everything else too...anyone know for sure if i can just cannibalize an accord for everything? Or what years of accords will work or not...im assuming anything with an F will work...but dont wana go out and find all the stuff to have some of it not work

Re: Auto to manual swap

i'm doing my swap now on my 5th gen.. honestly the only used parts you need are the shift linkage and cables, a pedal assembly, the reservoir for the master.. and the rest you can use from your car or buy new which i would recommend for the rest.. like clutch/pressure plate kit, flywheel, master, slave, starter. I'm pretty sure I read the same thing about 4th and 5th gens you don't need new axles or intermediate shaft.. um.. don't use the stock master to slave connection cables... buy a braided steel line instead.. this is from 97predator.. he helped me get the ball rolling and has been a huge help.. oh.. you will probably need to buy the side transmission mount.. they are different than the auto one.

it has cost me around 1500 for the tranny parts.. but since my engine took a **** also i decided to buy all new motor mounts and a new motor.. lol so my whole project is costing me around 3000.. but doing all the work myself is saving me a ton

Good luck with your swap..

http://www.mazmo.com/zameoj/swap.htm is a good start for the swap.. i found the helms online somewhere.. a beautiful thing to have

Hi, I'm just wondering if you guys can tell me what sites you are using to buy these parts from? I currently have an '00 automatic and am thinking of doing a swap as well later down the road.

Re: Auto to manual swap

Hey, can you post that guide here? I really want to convert to manual, and do an engine swap at the same time.
