D/S Window stuck!

So, about 2 hours ago we got into the car and headed downtown. Little did I know my window was going to get stuck and I would have to freeze the whole way there and back!

So wtf? Dead motor? It won't go up or down. It didn't give any signs of the motor about to die. Is it possible that the motor froze from the cold?
The passenger side still works, but drivers won't budge. Please someone reply fast. I gotta go to work tomorrow and it's cold out and I don't like to leave my windows down with the car unattended.

Re: D/S Window stuck!

Actually I was just about to edit the post. I'll check to see if I can hear the motor tomorrow. It's way too cold out right now to check. If I do hear the motor though, it would mean the window is off the track, correct?

Re: D/S Window stuck!

yes and no, if you hear the motor, it may just be off the track, otherwise the regulator could have snapped, allowing the gear on the motor to spin freely.

Re: D/S Window stuck!

The window might be just stuck from the ice. Try to shut the door real hard to break any ice and see if that helps..

Re: D/S Window stuck!

Or it may be burnt contacts in the switch itself, try switching your passsenger side switch with the driver's side and see if it works. I had this happen in my old 87 RX7 my switch was able to come apart and I was able to take emery cloth to it and clean up the copper contacts and it worked great after that. Just try and remember how it comes apart that way you know where everything goes, This switch might be different and may not work.

Re: D/S Window stuck!

Okay, only thing I head was a REALLY quiet grr sound. I'm gonna say the motor is out. Anyone have one for sale? Autozone wants a hundred bucks for the motor itself.
