Some quick advice please! :)

So I am looking to get a Vtech model prelude, and I found one dirt cheap! $1200 !!! The problem *of course there is a problem* is it needs some love on the outside. The pics speak for themselves
.

The engine runs strong *car has 170k on it.*

So, is it worth it? And what should I expect to pay to fix the exterior? It doesn't need to be a show car, but I would want to take care of the rust/missing paint and any big dents.

Thanks for any input!

Re: Some quick advice please! :)

I'd leave it alone. The head looks like it had an oil fire. The body wasn't remotely take care of so you can bet your ass nothing else was either. It might make a good parts car for $800 but I wouldn't buy it, expecting it to be dependable.

By the way, it's VTEC, not Vtech. It's written on the valve cover. Prelude's didn't come with phones.

I'd offer 800. If he accepts, ditch the body kit for stock bumpers and sideskirts. To fix the rust and dents professionally it could cost around 2k, thats just a guess, based on the pictures.

Re: Some quick advice please! :)

if you got a place to store it, tools to tear it apart, time lots of time, a good ups account, an ebay account, and a ton of brown boxes, then yes, partdabitchout. make some money!!

the body kit is so ****ed on this thing, id drive this off a cliff and scam insurance fraud before driving this. the front end looks like if you got it over 45 mph all the panels would start untaping themselves and flying into traffic....which come to think of it would probably be pretty cool.

Re: Some quick advice please! :)

E was right about it looking like an oil fire plus look buy the hood latch whats up with that? I see a few cracks on both bumpers so ya need new ones, then comes to the rust THAT YOU CAN SEE, trust me thear will be more rust and a few other things. so all in all it would be about 3000+- to have it all done. Ya could take that money and buy a lude out right in way better shape to start with.

In the future I shall endeavor to spell words correctly for fear of scaring people further. Sorry for the mistake.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I will pass on this one and just try saving up a bit.

That body is gonna cost you at least 3k to fix, not to mention the other problems that are sure to pop up. I still say pass.
