Help Please, car won't start

so about last weekend while driving on the highway i speed up and then out of no where my car dies, so i pull over check everything...i take off my spark plug wires and one is oxidized and crumbles...so i replaced them and my car makes a knocking/tappin noise coming from the distributor......so i've replaced that...and nothing.

i've now replaced the starter, since my old one failed and then it doesnt turn over..the 'brake' light just comes on...but no crank or anything.

im going to re do the starter and try again.

Re: Help Please, car won't start

turn the key to III (accessories on) and see what happens/how many of the lights turn on.

also, disconnect the two dizzy connectors and crank it. its not gonna crank the motor cuz its disconnected, but the starter will be engaging (hopefully). if its in good condition it should crank continuously and healthily, and not sound like its dying.

well i redid the starter, and just bought a new battery cuz i found out mine was bad, but now i turn it and the brake light comes on for some reason still, but no cranking or nada no noise..its wierd, it might be the relay..other than that im out of ideas.

what do u mean the the two distributor connectors?

heres my starter im wondering whether i've hooked it up right, does the bottom bolt hook up to anything because it was just a tightend bolt like that when i got the starter.

Re: Help Please, car won't start

Check the ecu ground by the thermostat if there is no spark. Now that I think of it check your coil. My msd one went out on me and the car just kinda lost power. Thank god I was smart enough to install that msd coil the way I did, so I could swap it out for the stock one on the side of the road.

Re: Help Please, car won't start

theres a little connector under or (beside the dizzy) that looks like a little square with 4 plugs coming out of it...

i did it with my mechanic when we replaced it, but you have to take your distributor cap off and then take the dizzy off to see the little square im talkin about..

that was the issue with mine..

and before that i had the same prob your having and ended up being my ecu and distributor.. good luck
