electrical problem, help!!!!!!!

ok so i finally put my car back togethor on the road after crashing it several months before. the problem i have now is #1 my car is blowing several fuses just in a matter of 3 weeks(clock radio, and interior lights). #2 the lighting behind my gauges doesnt work when you turn the lights on at night and the back taillight dimmer doesnt come on, the brake lights work when you press the brake, i thought a new dimmer relay fuse would fix the problem but it didnt. (got one from the junkyard so idk if its bad or good). and also sometimes the battery light flickers on for a sec and then goes away what does all this mean, what is the problem? im asking all the pz techs to help me out with this problem, moneys tite so i gotta do it myself

Re: electrical problem, help!!!!!!!

what kind of wreck? Frontal? Side? Rear?

It sounds like you have damaged the insulation on some wiring and it is literally shorting to ground.
This could be a nightmare to track down, Start with ANY wires that go through, or attached to any metal structure in your car.

Re: electrical problem, help!!!!!!!

Bad ground or bad alternator. That's where I would start. Really sounds like the alternator's voltage regulator is going out. Would explain the fuses getting burnt up also.

i crashed the car in the front and i bought a brand new alternator and put it in. but i think i did something wrong. also my cars having trouble starting. it takes a few more cranks to start when the engine is cold, or if i have the car turned off for a few hours. but it will start up fine when the engine is warmed up. thanks for the input pz

also what the hell is causing my gauges not to light up at night its really pissing me off bc i cant drive at nite, and all the freaks come out at nite so im kinda stuck lol

You can get your alternator tested. They aren't cheap.
