Speed sensor

My speed sensor is on the fritz. I have a 92 h23 si, I called autozone and they asked me wich one i needed, a Denso or some other one that started with a m. Does it matter wich one i get? both were for a h23, 5 speed mt. one cost 111.00 and the other was 169.00. Is the only difference the name???

Re: Speed sensor

They are both probably the same, what I did when mine went out was get a used one at the junkyard for 25 bucks.

Re: Speed sensor

Get an OEM one, around the same price if you can from Honda.

I hate Autozone parts to hell. Duralast is rubbish.

If you have the choice of a Denso VSS, get that one.

Re: Speed sensor

yea, that seems to be a common problem. no preludes in the junkyard. but hey atleast now you know that it wont go on you. and if it does then it has a warranty. yay for new parts.

Re: Speed sensor

It is on the rear of the transmission near the thermostat area. It has two bolts, 10mm holding it on, it has a shaft that runs into the mechanical part of the VSS, dont lose that shaft. It is as easy to put on as it is take off. Long extension helps :) if you still need a pic of where it is let me know tomorrow.
