Stretched tires...

need help choosing the correct size stretched tires to run on some wheels....i think ive decided on some wheels ...theyre 16x7.5 in front and 16x9 in the rear....i know thats pretty wide for the rear and ill probably rub in the back and maybe even the front but thats more of a reason why i wanna run stretched tires...along with i like how it looks...i dont want it to be ridiculous stretched but nice and noticeable and still safe to drive on...

sooo...anyone recommend what size to go with on the 16x7.5 and what size for the 16x9s?

also, any particular brand to go with that may have stronger sidewalls...someone recommended kumho or maxxis....

If you are worried about safety at all, don't stretch your tires.

Re: Stretched tires...

i don't know if they make your size ut yokohame sidewalls are insanely good.
my 205/45/16's are GREAT the side wall was tough as hell, which made them hard to get on and off, but that comes with the tire i suppose.

That's why there unsafe haha. If you wouldn't feel comfortable pushing your car with them, why would you go with them? Tires aren't meant to be "stretched," so when you do stretch them and drive on them obviously they aren't going to be as safe as regularly mounted tires. I'm not saying there going to burst into flames and kill you, I'm just saying, they aren't as safe as conventionally mounted tires.

Re: Stretched tires...

I thought streching tires= serious possibility for blow-outs? like a pot whole can do it. I know there was a write up on it in the last issue of honda tuning with the silver 4th gen from tennessee.

Re: Stretched tires...

There's a possibility of a blow out with conventionally mounted tires too. There's just a higher possibility of it with stretched tires.

Re: Stretched tires...

205 for a 9 inch tire is a no-no. You should have at least a 245 for a 9 inch rim.
205's are good for 5.5-7.5" but not for 9. good luck trying to fit them on the rim.
The bead will not seat.

Re: Stretched tires...

This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life.

185's on a 7.5 rim? The stock Honda size for a stock 15x6.5 rim is 205. Why would you wanna stretch a tire that small? Just buy the RIGHT SIZE!!!

Do some 215's up front and you better go ATLEAST 235's in the back. If you are getting 205's, put those on the front and put those 185's on someones Geo Storm!!!

Sorry for the bitchy remark, but I just found this extremely dumb to do and pointless. What's the point of "strethcing" a tire that much when you can just buy the right size?

im obviously goin for a stretched look genius....i dont need recommendations for the correct size cuz im pretty sure i can easily figure that out

215s n 235s obviously wouldnt be a stretched look.....and so u want me to put those properly fitting tires on those wide ass wheels so i rub everywhere rite.......

Re: Stretched tires...

Everyone needs to cut out the bitching. He has big rims. He wants to stretch his tires. It's HIS car, so he can do what he wants. I know next to nothing about stretching tires, except that when you do, they become less safe to drive on. I can't give you any recommendations as what tire size to use with X width rim. But if you think you can figure it out, go for it, and post pics when you're done.

Haha sorry man didn't mean to come off that harsh, I was awake at like 5am and was probably cranky or something.

It's OK to stretch tires but to an extent. The size's you're going to use there could be better options because your rim's are real wide.

But good luck to you brotha.
