New to Prelude

Hey guys, my name is Brenna, and I just bought my first Honda Prelude. 1995 SI on the door frame. I don't know much about these cars.....So I'm going to ask some dumb questions:
What is.....
H22?
H23?
JDM?
B16?
B....anything?
H....anything?
"Spoon Engine" ?
What kind of modifications can I do to my car to make it faster?

I don't even know what it means to have a "Vtec," car let alone know if that's what my car has in it. I know it's pretty quick though!

Hopefully someone will school me on this so I can be on my merry modifying way

Thanks!
Brenna

Re: New to Prelude

hi welcome. H23, H22, B16 and anything B or H are all types of motors found in preludes. H22 motors are the Vtec edition. JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market...pretty means making your car look japanses by investing in Japanese parts for your import. If you have vtec you would generally have an emblem or your engine would say DOHC (dual overhead cam) Vtec. Exhaust, cold air intake, headers are a few beginner mods.

Re: New to Prelude

First off, Welcome to the site!

Second, if you don't have a manual then we have an online manual to download:
http://hondatech.info/downloads/Auto...e/Prelude%204/

This will help for basic repairs and routine check-ups.

We also have a 4th gen resource thread too, which you might find useful:

More than likely, it sounds like you have a h23 in it because of it being an si.

Spoon is a Japanese company that makes some aftermarket parts for our cars. They're good quality parts, but tend to be pretty expensive.

As far as mods go, my recommendation is to sit down and do some reseach. Figure out what you want the end result to be, and then start planning on how to get there. That way you don't end up buying useless mods that you won't need later on in your build. The sky is the limit because there is plenty of aftermarket support for our cars.

First thing I would do before you start modding is to make sure that the car is in excellent running condition. This means doing all the tune-up things. That way your car will be ready for whatever you decide to do to it. :) Happy modding, and good luck.

Re: New to Prelude

No pictures yet........I'm getting some aftermarket rims for it this weekend. Also, how do I make an avatar on this forum? I didn't see how to do it when I was making my profile. Thanks!
