Heater not working

*UPDATE*
So I took out the cable for the heater control valve and the valve was OK. The car still blows out freezing cold air and it's winter! :(

The temp dial will not budge from cold and I think it's the valve that the cable from the climate control connects to which I believe is the blender valve.

What can I do to fix this? I tried pulling it by hand put it springs back to place. Any help would be appreciated, it's winter and I'm freezing my @$$ off!

BTW, thermostat is fine, coolant flush recently, and fluid topped off..

Re: Heater not working

heater core might be clogged...feel the inlet and outlet hoses once your engine has warmed up. if one is cold then its clogged

Re: Heater not working

I wanna ask, but know this is 6 years old. 5th gen has the same setup.

My cable through the firewall is stuck.... in the lukewarm position.

The question was gonna be was your cable through the firewall stuck...

How to replace that cable search continues...

Edit:
4th & 5th have the same trouble.

Re: Heater not working

It's the heater core. If it does unclog it will break and you may have some coolant leak in the car. Clear out the clog or be prepared to take out the dash to replace the heater core. I've swapped out the heater core in a 4th gen from leaking issues.

It's not necessarily the cable. In my case the air blend door itself is seized up.

Re: Heater not working

I gotcha george. That musta been a drag to fix. Did you have to replace the whole unit?

My blender door was nearly closed when no cables were attached as it 'relaxes' to that position. (Car came that way)
The cable through the firewall had frozen while the heater hose valve was in the off position. When re-attaching all three cable ends it closed/opened (?) the blender door as in max cool.
Unattached cables provides luke warm air. Tolerable but hardly comfy. Cables re-attached provided no warmth.

I released the frozen cable housing from it's clip on the firewall, tugged the housing to a position where the cable end would attach to the valve about 75% open, then re-clipped it.
Then I reattached cables inside the car. I have heat now. Lots of it.
The cable is $10 +/- @ the dealer. Or $7.35 with $465 s&h at majestic.

The no warm air solve process was like this:
No heat, fluctuating temp gauge or car running hot. Replace thermostat.
Still no heat.
Run car check for air in system. None found.
Leave car overnight so coolant cools.
Run car. Feel hoses. Top hose warm, bottom hose cool, t stat not open yet.
Both hoses warm, t stat open.
Check heater hoses, both warm. Heater core is flowing.
Coolant system working proper.

From there climate control items checked.
I had lukewarm air. Not cold. That's what baffled me.
So cable system checked item by item and frozen cable was found.
Service manual checked for how to adjust cables. Viola.
Pz checked for 5g heater no worky. Golden!
