Re: clutch install need help/adjusting

sorry to say bro, but it doesn't really sound like a clutch problem. sounds like your 3rd gear syncro is almost shot, and 1 and 2 are on their way out. which means new tranny time.

Re: clutch install need help/adjusting

never ever everrrrrrr force it into gear!! thats how you break shiiit!!

if it doesn't go into 1st at first, retry it into any other gear. 99.9999% of the time going into either 2nd or reverse will always solve the problem.

That was prolly burnt clutch you smelled...but I don't believe a bad/going bad clutch would cause problems like that. Definitely sounds like the syncrhos. New tranny time!

Re: clutch install need help/adjusting

Ok if your having a hard time putting into gear at a stop/first start up. You are having a fluid pressure issue. That could be a clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, air in the lines, or the soft line is getting weak and needs to be replaced.

As for the grinding 3rd is the number one gear in Honda trannies that loves to go out. Your best bet is to talk to the guys at gearspeed.com about a rebuild (yeah you could get a used trannie but you never know what your going to end up with) Oh and to help with down shifting a bit, before you put it into the next lower gear (with the clutch in) match rev the car. It saves the syncros and makes it easyer for the tranny to speed the next gear up.

Re: clutch install need help/adjusting

my mom's 3000GT had the same problem and it was her clutch pressure and apparently when i checked it out, it turned out to be that the slave cylinder was fucced so when we replaced that, it fixed the problem...

look to see if your clutch cylinder engages right when you pump the clutch pedal...if it does and you have no kinks in your clutch lines or any discontinuities in clutch fluid flow then it's most likely your tranny gears are goin bad...

for the record clutches dont "grind" Unless u dump metal shavings into ur tranny lol. The grinding feeling u get is u shaving the tips off ur gears lol. Synchro's will solve that problem

yea that is tranny problem... if all your gears go in no problem, then its not the clutch.

Re: clutch install need help/adjusting

Throw out bearings can cause hell too. IF you do replace the clutch I would say go with a Stage 1 or 2 depending on modifications. Stage 2 is ceramic with 6 pucks for better cooling while 1 (oem) tends to be organic materials. Make SURE it is SPRUNG or you will get BAD clutch chatter. The only negative to stage 2 is the price...

Sounds like you have a bad clutch master cylinder and/or seal.

Re: clutch install need help/adjusting

Dodge Stealth Clutch Issue
Loose Pedal Support Bracket Bolt:
The Symptoms
"""It seemed that over a period of time, like 6 months or so, my clutch seemed to be not disengaging fully on my 1992 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo (this issue affects both FWD and AWD models). This progressively got worse to the point I would have to shut the engine off to get the transmission into first gear if I was not already there due to downshifting before a stop. When stopped, even with the peddle all the way to the floor, the car would creep forward. This let me know that it was still partially engaged. All fluid levels were full and not leaking. """

i found this.... my car sometimes if i don't leave it in neutral it also goes slowly forward so now what its a bolt and both of the cylinders???

there is a boot on the left hand side of the clutch slave cylinder and it should be compressing and decompressing as you push the pedal...

Re: clutch install need help/adjusting

i just got done changing the clutch slave cilinder on mine about 3 weeks ago
because i was having hell getting in but even worse getting out of gears.
ya they grinded a bit but no worries next year they make em out of rubber.

heres what i would do to test the problem
first is this an oem clutch.
next put your car in first gear with the engine runing leave the parking brake on, slowely start to release the clutch, about how far can you take thew pedal out until the engine starts to stumble. 10-20-30 percent?

if it grabs down to soon youve defintly got a pressure issiue.

best place to start is to bleed the clutch, which is realllllly fun and cheap if you have someone working either the pedal or the bleeder that has bled something before...

if not just take it to a tranny shop.

ya they grinded a bit but no worries next year they make em out of rubber.

heres what i would do to test the problem
first is this an oem clutch.
next put your car in first gear with the engine runing leave the parking brake on, slowely start to release the clutch, about how far can you take thew pedal out until the engine starts to stumble. 10-20-30 percent?

if it grabs down to soon youve defintly got a pressure issiue.

best place to start is to bleed the clutch, which is realllllly fun and cheap if you have someone working either the pedal or the bleeder that has bled something before...

if not just take it to a tranny shop.
U shouldnt have trouble getting OUT of gears with a bad slave. Did u change it and that was the problem? Or is it still doing it.
