Auto Trans problem

Hey all,

I have a 95 S f22a model. Not really modded besides I/E. My problem is this, while driving at anything above 40mph as I slow down to say, 15 to make a corner as I step on the gas to accelerate the car would kind of slip a little. When I shift into gear, doesn't matter which one, it is very rough. Now the tranny is slipping in first gear only. It only happens after the car warms up. When it is cold, first does not slip at all, it is still engaging hard into the gears but it just doesn't slip. Has anyone experienced this problem or know what the cause might be. Could it be a bad solenoid or is it more likely going to be the t.c.. Thanks in advance.

I would love to do a swap but money is limited and this is my daily. Have a bike to ride but with an 8 yr. old daughter it makes it kind of tough to depend on a bike for my transpo.

167,xxx. supposedly the engine was swapped but I don't know about the tranny.

Not sure what else it could be. Only slipping in first after it comes up to full operating temp. Only doing it in first. Going to try a fluid change this weekend. Also exploring the possibility of a bad shift solenoid. As said in my first post, if it was the TC I would think it would do it in all gears. Wife's car is an 01 Civic auto and the TC went out in that and had absolutely no gears forward or reverse. My lude was running fine and then problem started friday. I have read somewhere that if it shutters it could also be a lock up solenoid so I will look into that as well. One more thing, does anyone know how to reset the TCM? Sorry for the long post.

Re: Auto Trans problem

When I had my dodge stratus, I thought it was my trans also. It wasnt really jumpy or anything, but it wouldnt really move at all in first gear when I came from a stop or a 5mph roll. It ended up being fixed with a simple tune up. And when it was cold, the RPMS would be up so the misfiring spark plug didnt matter. Once it was warmed up it sucked.

When I had my cutlass the trans slipped in the higher rpms. It was a legit slipping of my trans.

Whens the last time you had a tune up? Define "Slipping" is it when you press the gas, the rpms jump, but get no actual power to the ground out of it?

Tune up as far as plugs, oil, fuel filter and things of the like? I have had the car for about three months, all was well. I pulled the plugs and they were burning a nice golden brown so I figured no need to change them. I changed the oil, put new front struts on, and topped off the radiator, nice and green with the antifreeze.

Slipping = When the car is cold it is a lot better, after it warms up though it slips (on the throttle car starts to roll, once I hit about 2500 rpm's it slips and the rpm's shoot up) it only does this in first gear. All other gears are fine. As of lately though every once in a while it will hesitate shifting between 3rd and 4th, not all the time though. Going to do a fluid change in it this weekend. As I said in an earlier post the engine was supposedly swapped, is it possible that the throttle valve cable is slightly out of adjustment and just got worse? I am beating my head against the wall here. Again, wish I had the money for 5 speed swap but times are tough and crackas is broke deez days.

Re: Auto Trans problem

Yea it definitely sounds like a trans problem. Without a doubt. I couldn't tell you exactly where to go with this, because I'm not good with trannies. Trans problems are difficult to diagnose and repair. I would rather swap out a tranny then get it fixed. I couldn't tell you the first thing about a trans.
