You have to push the gas after you let out the clutch.

Re: im new - question on 4th gen

That was a joke on my part but....Yeah I really have no idea. If you're not throwing any codes maybe you just have a ****ed up ECU.

IDK what kind of engine you have but you might have an EGR problem clogging up your IM.

Re: im new - question on 4th gen

Damn I didn't even think about that. I know the EGR valve went bad on my Cutlass a few years ago and the car would start and run for a few minutes, then as soon as I went to drive it would die on me. Good call.

Re: im new - question on 4th gen

start with the cleaning the EGR valve. It is easy to get too. Have you downloaded the 4th gen service manual from the site? It was available but i am having trouble pulling it up. any help there mods?

worst case I can always email it to you if you want. It sounds like it is a problem somewhere in the PGM-FI system.

Re: im new - question on 4th gen

Here's a manual for you:
http://hondatech.info/downloads/Auto...e/Prelude%204/

And the page is 11-153 on the fuel section where it starts talking about troubleshooting the egr.

Here's a write-up for you:

Re: im new - question on 4th gen

my car was throwing the codes for the EGR valve, so i cleaned it, reset the ecu, but still threw it, i then changed it, again reset the ecu, but it still throws the same code.

could it be the ERG solenoid? or something else?

Re: im new - question on 4th gen

you can try replacing the egr valve too b/c sometimes cleaning it doesnt fix it. They do go bad from time to time. The solenoids can go bad too. Have you looked at the flow chart for the exact code your throwing in the service manual? it should tell you exactly the fastest route for easiest repair.

i replaced it for a new one but still throws the same code. it actually never occurred to me to follow the flow chart, makes sense jeje. will do that, and hopefully it will be the solenoid not something else, thanks.

"Cold start valve" = IACV? or FITV?
