Is this wire for the crank sensor? Could it be the problem?

Is this wire for the crank sensor? Could it be the problem?

When I got the car this wire was disconnected and it wouldn't run (i think its where the last dude hooked up his tach) so i just ghetto rigged it to get it home by splicing the wires together real quick and it started up. So I completely forgot about that wire that I spliced years ago and its just been sitting there bare collecting oil that was dripping out of the distributor (bad O-ring). I am hoping that this could be why my car has a random miss and overall poor performance if this wire is indeed the crank sensor wire could it cause all this?

I am waiting on my injectors to show up before I can test it but I soldered up the wire and shrink wrapped it (it was just sitting there bare B4)
