Re: jdm and usdm

let me start by saying
JDM -> H22A
USDM -> H22A1, H22a4, H22A8 (whatever else ...)

not a lot. Not enough to make a real difference.
The horsepower ratings are roughly around the same

H22A-200Bhp
H22A1-190Bhp
H22A4-195Bhp
Other H22s - ???

JDM H22 comes from japanese preludes. H22a1 comes in USDM 92-96 (not sure which exact years) prelude si-vtec's and the H22a4 comes in 97+ USDM preludes.

The H22A and H22A1 are both OBD1, and both use "closed deck" and I believe H22a4 is an open deck. This really shouldn't matter to you, its not that big of a deal unless your planning on throwing a turbo on a h22. A closed deck is a stronger bottom end, but more expensive to build. An open deck is cheaper, but is supposedly unable to handle a lot of stress (I havent heard of any stock prelude owners worrying about open/closed decks)

The h22a has a higher compression ratio then the h22a1 and a4.

thats pretty much all the basics

no, higher compression means more power. thats why when people build motors N/A they try to achieve a high compression ratio.

there are two different jdm H22A motors. both are closed deck.

92-96 H22A 10.6:1 200hp obd 1
97-01 H22A 11:1 220hp obd 2 <--- this motor is the mack daddy h22 otherwise known as the Type S

Yes you can, you have to make an adapter plate so the shaft that goes between the tranny and the drivers side axle will bolt up. Or you could just get a Sir spec-s h22 (same as the type-s just no atts b.s) and not have to do that like I did.

No. With the exception of a district known as "Americatown" (seriously, it is a real place!) they keep to their own culture, and love everything about it.

Not necessarily. They don't go nuts over "USDM" parts but people do want them maybe not for the lude, but for teg's, civic's etc. I know in some countries people try to dress, talk, and look "American"

Re: jdm and usdm

i thought the 96 h22's were the h22a4 since h22a1 were OBD1.

Nope. Just to clarify.... 93-95 USDM H22A1 is OBD1. 96 USDM H22A1 is OBD2. 97+ H22A4 is OBD2.
