f22a1 the same as f22b?

Hey guys I just bought a 94' prelude with a blown engine for $500, it currently has an f22a1 engine. From what I can tell if I get an f22b SOHC non-vtech engine it should fall right in with stock ecu and wiring harness? am I missing anything or does this sound right? Thanks for your time.

Re: f22a1 the same as f22b?

f22b is the JDM equivalent of an H23, meaning its DOHC non-vtec.
the f22b1 is the SOHC vtec found in 5th gen accord ex's, and f22b2 is SOHC non-vtec. so don't get 'em confused.

so the a1 is closest to the b2, just some different stuff on the IM and 'ish.

all of them will drop in exactly the same way, just make sure the new motor is still OBD1 so you don't gotta deal w/ converting it.

From what I see though is that the F22b comes in non-vtech or vtech and SOHC or DOHC, are they just trying to sell their motors or are these options possible?

they're just tryna sell their motors than, cuz if they don't specify whether its the f22b/1/2, it could be any of the three motors available. like i said, the F22b is only DOHC non-vtec.

Re: f22a1 the same as f22b?

There are USDM f22b's that are SOHC and there are JDM f22b's that are DOHC. If it's a USDM f22b it will fit with all your existing sh*t, but the head flows alot worse than the f22a. That's about the only disadvantage of the USDM f22b. If you want a JDM f22b, there's wire harness sh*t and swapping you have to do, there are at least 2 people on this site that have done the swap. You'd have to get in touch with them.
