would stock headers and downpipe sound better on an aftermarket exhaust?

ive been wondering about this for awile now, i basically did the whole system
headers
downpipe (2 1/4 outlet, i think)
catalytic converter (or a resonator?)
catback
from wat i think, its a straight on through system, the catalytic converter has none of that filter stuff in it, its like jus another pipe
i also have a short ram intake
before i forget, its a 1995 SE Honda Prelude 2.3 no vtec, and sadly auto, but oh well

i think thats an entire exhaust system?

but wat i got was ebay stuff, not the best but a good start for a newbie like me
its an N1 style, not sure wat brand, box said KCF

heres the story, i have a buddy who said that if i had the stock header and downpipe it would of made my exhaust sound more better with a more aggressive vroom to it.

on camera phone sounds like crap, but in person sounds pretty decent for a ebay exhaust, so what are your guys suggestions?
i'll try and get a vid of it

Start off buy smacking your friend in the nuts for telling you some dumb $hit like that. The only thing that is making your car sound like poo is that ebay "hi flow cat" They make even the best cat back systems for preludes sound raspy like a civic. So upgrade that to a Mangflow cat would be smart (they do make a bolt on one for the si non vtec 92-95 preludes with h23s)

i dunno man, my ebay high flow cat made me Greddy exhaust sound sexier i think. made it a little deeper and i don't get that raspy noise, maybe i just lucked out. i got the ebay header too, but the ONLY reason i got thoseebay things was i needed a cheap way to get my car back on the road, please don't think any less of me

That is the crux of the matter right there. Using all high quality parts (while costing heaps more) will sound way better.

Re: would stock headers and downpipe sound better on an aftermarket exhaust?

hondas have a header not headerssssss...damnit

auto lude, ebay exhaust, its not gonna sound that great pal

ur friend is half right, but still a dumb comment....it might be quieter with the stock manifold and downpipe but thats about it....not "more aggresive vroom"

if anything to me raspy and loud is more "aggresive" that doesnt mean it sounds "good" tho
however that all it depends...... what you u think sounds good, might not sound good to me

Re: would stock headers and downpipe sound better on an aftermarket exhaust?

Okay so can we get to the bottom of this one question..does it sound better with a hi-flow cat or just stock cat? I have ruled out the test pipe idea from what everyone has said but Ill tell ya..when I was putting on my headers..that converter was looking prettty restricting.
