high revs at idle...car drives itself

Hey guys, back again with more problems...we got the car running, but it idles at around 2500 rpms in park or neutral....and when its in gear, if i let my foot off the gas, the car will literally accelerate itself up to about 40 mph...i tried disconnecting the eacv and adjusting the idle screw but with having it turned all the way one way, the lowest it stays at is 2500 rpm...and when the eacv is unplugged the revs bounce between 1500 and 1000, i did a diagnostic and the only code im pulling is for a knock sensor....

Re: high revs at idle...car drives itself

it could just be a bad IACV. make sure you dont have any intake leaks. do you hear any whistling noises or anything.

if you find out the IACV is bad i got one ill sell you for $50

Re: high revs at idle...car drives itself

what about when driving it. when my intake manifold leaked. depending on rpm and how much throttle i gave it. i could hear it whistle while doing 40mph. and it idled bad

Re: high revs at idle...car drives itself

also just see if you are getting any resistance from the IACV. if its zero that could it.

Re: high revs at idle...car drives itself

I have something simalar, it jumps between 1- 2000 rpms. so I looked at the pcm valve(cant really remember the real name for it) coming out of the valve cover on the right side and stuck my finger on it and it sucked it in a little of my finger and stoped to idle.So I put a small piece of electrcial tape on the end to stop for now, What is the real problem and a fix?

Re: high revs at idle...car drives itself

sounds like the throttle cable is entirely too tight.

If your FITV valve is stuck open it would do what you are saying.

Re: high revs at idle...car drives itself

the throttle cable is loose-ish...it doesnt have any real tension on it untill i push the pedal. when i disconnect eacv the rpms start jumping between1 and 1500 rpms....i dunno if thats normal or not.

where is the fitv and how do i check to see if somethings jacked up?

i cant feel/hear any vacuum leaks anywhere either...

The FITV is on the bottom of the throttle body, to test it you just stick your finger over the bottom left hole inside of the throttle body while the car is up to operating temp. If your idle returns to normal while plugging the hole then its the FITV.
