my dryers exhaust hose used as an intake for my lude.

ok check this out, i am running a stock intake as you can see in my pics, but to improve air flow to the intake box i did a lil ghetto thing here. you know those 4 inch exhaust hoses behind your dryer, yeah those aluminum looking ones, well i attached it on the bottom of my intake box and ran it right up to the right side of my bumper. i cant really say i felt a difference in performance but it looks functional to me. here are some pics so you get a better idea of what im talking about.

Not a good idea IMO. Just remove the resonator and be done with it.

Re: my dryers exhaust hose used as an intake for my lude.

i think some of you are getting the wrong idea.... its not going directly to the intake manifold.lmao. the stock air filter is still there. if you look at the bottom of your air box( kinda hard to do) there is the stock air vent, i guess you would call it, where the air normally goes in. all i did was direct better air flow to it. i have actually seen this done on other high performance vehicles that need better air flow to the intake area, that's kinda where i got the idea from. but im glad some of you are getting a laugh out of it. it is actually functional, water doesn't get up in there either because i have 3 small holes drilled on the bottom just in case water did happen to go in there. I live in Bakersfield, we get rain here like maybe once a year for an hour or two, im not really worried there.

okay so first the 3 holes you drilled will not do anything it is air induction if rain or puddle water get sucked up your fukked. the holes would only help for water coming back down. but hey you live in an area where there is not much rain... so next

no shyt it is not directly connect to your intake manifold. the only thing stopping a rock with a lot of velocity from getting through and fukkin up your TB and possible intake mani is a paper air filter, PAPER!

listen we are not trying to be jerk or pricks in anyway. just looking out for you. you should really remove it.

as you said high performance cars are equipped with piping like this... not dryer hose. LOL. they are designed by engineers and there is usually a mesh screen in the piping to prevent objects like rocks, leaves, ducks and beavers from gettin sucked up in there and damaging things.

so all in all we voiced our thoughts and opinions to benefit you so it is your choice to do what you will with them.

best of luck!!!

Re: my dryers exhaust hose used as an intake for my lude.

wait dosent the stock air box have a cold air pickup "not intake" but it draws cold air and is designed not to catch birds vacume dirt or wet vac puddles.

honestly like was stated above the biggest factors are the filter and the tubes runing from the filter to the throttle body.
weither its hot air or cold being drawn thats secondary to the above factors but every lil bit does help.

please state the hose was ceaned b4 instalation

Re: my dryers exhaust hose used as an intake for my lude.

The cars with ram air have big air boxes that the air circles around in to get the dirt and other crap put b/4 it gets to the filter. Best beat would be to do what brash said and remove the resonator still get the same air flow and not so much chance of getting crap in ur filter with will clog faster witch mean less air flow and defeats the hole purpose of what ya did.

in WW2 the fighter planes used water injection to gain horsepower while in combat. Im thinking about trying it on my f22a1, i think all you need is a mist bottle hooked up to your intake, Squirt Squirt BOOOOOOOM.............eeeeextra jalike extra horsepower

if you think about it in order for him to have this dryer hose attached to his air box he would have had to of removed the resonator.

and if he hasn't than the tube is even that much more useless

well yea the resonator was removed, but just to make you all happy I have removed it. its was only gonna be temporary anyway, I'm working on getting an actual intake made for this purpose. thanks for all your opinions and concerns.

why don't you just buy a CAI and call it a day? sounds easy and worth it to me. unless you really wanna be innovative and design it yourself and all. its completely up to you

since you removed your resonator you should go replace that shytty stock filter w/ a K&N Drop In air filter.

it's only $35-$45 and besides an intake is an intake... use the money and get some cams!! lol

X2

Unless you get a true CAI, the stock intake is the way to go.

Ha ha, funny dude. This guy here has an Acura RSX- s and he did the same thing as you! rofl I thought he was the only one... He did it differently though. He took off the stock intake and put that dryer hose vent thingy in place of the factory intake and threw on a real air filter...Idk how good it is, but it sounds louder and probably does get more air.... lol seriously just go with a cheap tube and a good air filter if anything..not to mention you could probably get a "name brand" off ebay for pennies on the dollar. <please note; ebay has been known to be home of cheap knock off parts, Nor I or pz is responsibly for you buying a ::Greedy:: CAI when in all reality its supposed to be a GReddy.> lol
